Der Krieg in Gaza und die Angriffe Huthi-Milizen haben einen in den letzten Jahren oft übersehenen Player im Nahen Osten in den Fokus gerückt: der Iran hat sich nicht nur als Brics Plus-Mitglied, sondern auch durch die Förderung der Hisbollah und der Huthi in aktuellen Krisenherden sichtbar gemacht. Matthias Hofmann (Orientalist und politischer Analyst) wirft in dieser Doppelfolge einen Blick auf die außenpolitische Position des Landes. In Teil 1 beschäftigen wir uns mit der direkten Verbindung des Irans zu seinen Anliegerstaaten Irak, Pakistan, Saudi-Arabien und Afghanistan. Desweiteren werden auch schon die Beziehungen zum Westen angesprochen, insbesondere zur USA und auch im Lichte der atomaren Bestrebungen des Iran.Moderation.
