Job Hunting, Decision Making Systems, and Ordering at Restaurants

We spent a good portion of this episode discussing the thought process that goes into deciding when it is time to find another job, what jobs to apply for, evaluating a job offer, or even selecting job candidates. Our specific criteria may have no relevance to you whatsoever but the thought process that goes into picking criteria may be something you find of use. Cameron was kind enough to talk to us about his experiences with ADHD. That includes the good, the bad, and the neutrally different. We touched a little bit on the subject of decision making systems, and how middle school history projects introduced Kyle to the concept of a decision matrix. Which he now way overuses in normal, social life. Don't be surprised if we give more attention to decision making systems in future episodes. We used decision making systems to pick a podcast theme and select the name, so, ya we actually use the stuff we talk about.

If you'd like to hire Cameron, check out his Hire Me page.

If you want to use a decision matrix for your next big choice, use your favorite search app and you'll find templates. Or check out something like SmartSheet's Decision Matrix Templates as a starting point. We are not sponsored by smartsheet. We're not sponsored by anybody, actually. Hint. Hint. Kyle is a big fan of using a weighted decision matrix. Give the categories that are more important to you more potential value.

Things you missed behind the scenes on this one...

Two people deciding on a show name is not an exciting demonstration of how different decision making systems can take identical inputs and result in different outputs. So you have more about that to look forward to in another episode.

Kyle was recording on a microphone covered in one of Cameron's socks, which he claims was clean. I guess someday when we have the video feed to accompany the audio you'll get to enjoy things like that along with us.

Links mentioned in the show:

We Work Remotely

Remote OK
