Yoga Nidra Meditation

A guided meditation of the yoga nidra variety. Yoga nidra is a practice of a meditative state of wakeful sleep or conscious sleep. It is a systematic way of turning inwards and to complete relaxation. It is a practice of moving the senses inward and away from outer experiences. The Sanskrit term for yoga nidra is "yogic sleep". Outside of the yoga world, it could be compared to ‘hypnagogia’, which is the state between wakefulness and sleep where a person may be conscious or lucidly dreaming. Yoga nidra works to access this meditative state through a series of stages. The practice is relatively new, gaining popularity from the mid-20th century. However, its history is rooted in the ancient text of Mahabharata. It is a relaxation and meditative technique that focuses on staying in the state between wakefulness and sleep – its objective is to help with creativity, sleep restoration, and enlightenment. It can also help to reduce anxiety and access the subconscious mind. Yoga nidra is often used at the end of a class during Savasana. A main component of this practice is Nyasa, which is a tantric tactic where you will observe and awaken prana within different parts of the body through meditative observation, or even physical touch

Metta - Loving Kindness Guided Meditation

What if you could reprogram your brain to be kinder and more compassionate towards others? Often when we are stressed or burnt out, we wall ourselves off and become critical of others. Metta meditation, or loving kindness meditation, differs from vipassina (mindfulness of breath) meditation in that you are focusing your attention on imagining and directing loving and kind thoughts towards another person and/or yourself. It is easier said than done, but with practice, you can truly change the way you think.
