#16: I beg you to stop "just surviving" in 2024

People always say they're "just surviving" parenthood. But think about it, how sad is that? Do you really want to "just survive" 10-20% of your life? Surviving is about getting the basics: food, water, love, connection etc., but thriving is about being present enough to enjoy it.

This podcast is more of a rant and a battle cry than a "how-to", because your how-to will be different to mine. I share how I'm preparing for the birth of our second child and what I'm doing differently after my first-time parent experience of postpartum rage and depression. There are 3 things I'm certain of:

Self-sacrifice is not the answer

Being on auto-pilot 24/7 is not the answer

Abandoning yourself and your identity is not the key to being a great parent

Don't forget your free download: 10 Ways to Demand More From Your Life & Work

Make sure you hit "Follow" and rate the podcast!

Build your life on purpose in 2024 and unlock more time, energy, success and fulfilment at work and home with:

THE ULTIMATE GOAL-SETTING COURSE FOR WORKING MUMS - sign up here!

FOLLOW ME ON:

Instagram

LinkedIn

workingmummovement.com

#15: Is this the reason you try to control everything?

Control... such an interesting concept isn't it? We like to believe we have some, and try to help ourselves feel in control, when in reality we have very little. But why do we try to control things? In today's episode I discuss a new theory I heard recently that's made me question everything about control. I talk about how:

Self-distrust underpins our need to try control everything

Our need for control is related to our ablility to manage our own emotions

The relationship between control and emotional intelligence

Don't forget to follow and rate the podcast!

Exciting news - you can unlock more time, energy, success and fulfilment in 2024 by joining:

THE ULTIMATE GOAL-SETTING COURSE FOR WORKING MUMS - sign up here!

FOLLOW ME ON:

Instagram

LinkedIn

workingmummovement.com

This episode is for you!

I've led teams of 2 up to a team of 25 and I've learnt some big lessons about how to juggle the demands of leadership and life. Today I'm sharing 3 key lessons with you around:

My expectations of myself

The boundaries I set

Managing other people's expectations

There's never a perfect time to do anything, especially when it comes to growing your career and testing your own abilities.
