<p>Lily Learned How to Recycle by Bella Liu <br /> <br />建議年紀：4-8歲 <br /> <br />音樂來源： <br />https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVsuTxQ_vdg <br /> <br /> <br />Once upon a time a little girl named Lily didn’t know how to recycle. <br />She threw everything in the trash can. <br />One day her mom taught her how to do recycle, but the next day, <br />Lily forgot what her mom taught her and kept throwing recycle things in the trash can. <br /> <br />Her mom was very upset because Lily was not listening to her. <br />Suddenly, an idea came to mommy’s mind. <br /> <br />She took a plastic bottle and called Lily to come over. <br />She was going to show Lily how to turn the plastic bottle into useful things. <br />She was going to turn the bottle into some crafts. <br />She was going to make a doll! <br /> <br />First, mommy asked Lily to draw eyes, a nose and a mouth with crayons on the bottle. <br />Next, mommy got a piece of paper. <br />She told Lily to cut the paper into some long and thin stripes very carefully, and color them black. <br />Then, she wanted Lily to glue the stripes onto the bottle and make clothes, legs and shoes for the doll. <br />They made a cute girl doll! All done! <br /> <br />Lily finally knew that she should recycle materials that can be turned into some other useful things. They should not be thrown in the trash cans. <br /> <br />Since then, when Lily drank water with plastic bottles, she would remember to throw them in the recycle bin! He’s different, and different means danger.” <br />“We’ll never know if we don’t go,” the princess insisted. <br />“Hark, no! We won’t go!” <br />“Suit yourselves,” said the princess. <br />Later, when midnight chimed, the princess climbed. <br />And at the top… <br /> <br />“Ahhhh! Human! Different! Danger!” <br />“Me? Dangerous? I’m the size of your toenail!” <br />“True,” said the giant, “but your kingdom is dangerous!” <br />“You’ve never climbed down to meet us. <br />We’re actually quite nice,” said the princess. <br />“You’ll never know if you don’t go!” <br /> <br />“My tummy hurts just thinking about it,” said the giant. <br />“But it does get lonely up here.” <br />“Then take a deep breath,” said the princess. <br />“We’ll climb down together.” <br /> <br />And so they did – one step at a time. <br />“Helloooo, royal knights,” Jacqueline called as the kingdom came closer. <br /> <br />“Shields up! Protect the princess! Wait! Where is the princess?” <br />“I’m up here, and there’s nothing to fear!” <br />But at the bottom… <br /> <br />“Ahhhh! Knights! Swords! Poking!” <br />“Ahhhh! Giant! Stepping! Squashing!” <br /> <br />“Wait!” said the princess. <br />“No one’s going to poke or squash anyone!” <br />“Maybe you’re right…” said the knights. <br />“Shields down.” <br />“I guess…” said the giant. <br />“Feet down.” <br /> <br />Feeling less worried took some time, but then the whole kingdom started to climb! <br />Soon everyone learned that different wasn’t dangerous. <br />It was delightful! <br /> <br />And forever after, the princess never missed a thing. <br />In fact, she had the best view of all! <br /> <br />Quiz <br />1. <p>Different Cultures <br /> <br />建議年紀：2-6歲 <br /> <br />音樂來源： <br />https://www.getepic.com/app/read/40127 <br /> <br />ethnic種族的 <br />Ethiopia依索比亞 <br />stewed meat 燉肉 <br />pilaf 香料飯 <br />Morocco摩洛哥 <br />spiced grilled lamb調味烤羊肉 <br />hummus鷹嘴豆泥 <br /> <br />Amy’s school needed to have a fundraiser so they could earn money to buy more computers. <br />Amy knew that many of her classmates’ families were from different countries around the world. <br />They had many special traditions, spoke many different languages and ate many different types of foods. <br /> <br />Amy had a brilliant idea for a fundraiser! <br />She suggested that every student could bring in their favorite dish and hold an ethnic dinner night. <br />She knew parents and members of the community would be glad to pay money in order to try foods from all over the world! <br /> <br />“That’s a great idea,” Amy’s teacher said. <br /> <br />“Let’s call it ‘Dinner around the World’.” <br /> <br />Amy brought in her favorite meal, chicken with mashed potatoes. <br />Her friend Amina was from Ethiopia, an African country. <br />She brought in stewed meat with spices over rice pilaf with Ethiopian bread. <br />Ibrahim, from Morocco, brought a dish of spiced grilled lamb over white rice with fried eggplant and hummus with pita bread. <br /> <br />The fundraiser was a great success. <br />Everyone enjoyed seeing smelling and tasting foods from so many different cultures. <br /> <br />Thank you for buying us a jar of candy!
