乾隆三十三年敕撰，共一百一十六卷，(附唐桂二王本末三卷)。编年记事，上起太昊伏羲氏，下讫明代，清高宗亲作御批，又称《御批历代通鉴辑览》。此书在史书中虽无特殊价值，但剪裁和内容组织上都很精当，篇幅适中，既不像《<a target="_blank" style="color:#4990E2;text-decoration:none;">纲鉴易知录</a>》那样仅具梗概而略显乏味，又不像《<a target="_blank" style="color:#4990E2;text-decoration:none;">资治通鉴</a>》那样篇幅浩大，头绪繁多，难于卒读。是清代通行的历史读本，民国初年也颇为流行。<a target="_blank" style="color:#4990E2;text-decoration:none;">王文濡</a>又补入清代史事，称为《增修补正正续历代通鉴辑览》，共140卷。最后定本的《御批通鉴辑览》起自远古伏羲氏，止于明末，一百十六卷，后附南明唐王、桂王事迹本末四卷，即唐王一卷、桂王三卷。仿《资治通鉴纲目》体式，但"纲"与"目"皆用大字书写，而用双行小字补叙史事、附记轶事异说、注明人物、诠释地名、考辩史实、引述前人注释和评论等等，并间或撰有馆臣的考释评述。正文、《凡例》与批语对包括《资治通鉴》、《资治通鉴纲目》在内的各种史书皆有指摘，而自称本书"尽善尽美，集史学之大成，实足表里六经，准式万世"，成为撰史、评史的圭臬。《御批通鉴辑览》在编纂和修订中，于义例、书法、是非褒贬等极其认真，对史实也不乏精湛的考辩，却仍未能全脱官修之书众手不齐之弊，《四库全书》和《四库全书荟要》两种版本及《评鉴阐要》所载清高宗的批语数量各不相同、在一些重要内容上互有遗漏，文字也有错讹，盖写定之时各书未能协同校对。书中内容亦有与《凡例》抵牾处，例如《凡例》明确批评贺善等人的史论"文芜义浅"，要"并加刊消，以省繁文"，而卷二十二却引贺善评汉光武帝的赞语，称相信图谶为其"盛德之累"，这恰与清高宗在上一卷的批语相违背。御批通鉴辑览序》经精心结撰，对清以前的历史作一系统的清理，成为官方述史、论史的的圭臬，而居于尊崇的地位。清高宗自诩其书"于凡正统偏安、天命人心、系属存亡，必公必平，惟严惟谨，而无所容心曲徇于其间。观是书者，凛天命之无常，知统系之应守，则所以教万世之为君者，即所以教万世之为臣者也"，将此书看成为万世君臣的政治教科书。而辑录清高宗批语的《评鉴阐要》，《四库提要》称其"圣鉴精详，无幽不烛……斥前代矫诬之行，辟史家诞妄之词，辨核舛讹，折衷同异，其义皆古人所未发而敷言是训，适协乎人心天理所同然"，是"读史之玉衡"、"传心之宝典"，甚至认为此书一成，起到"日月著明，爝火可息，百家谰言，原可无存"的作用。按照这个说法，清以前的任何历史名著，均无法与之相比。 免责声明：本书院为非营利性机构。以方便网友为主，仅供学习研究。 内容由热心网友提供和网上收集，不保留版权。若侵犯了您的权益，来信即刪。srn2188@sina.com
