Mit einer vermessenen Idee: Auf einer Fläsche, zwöfmal so groß wie Berlin, soll eine gigantiche Kautschukplantage entstehen. Und drumherum eine künftige Metropole. Beides ist gescheitert. Geblieben ist Fordlândia: Industriehallen, in denen Maschinen von einst verrotten, alte Häuser, manche verfallen, andere restauriert, die vom damaligen Leben erzählen.
