About 10K Card Journey: Tips and Lessons for Sports Card Collecting
My Card Inventory is a sports card collecting and investing podcast documenting my experience building a sports card portfolio from the ground up. In each episode, I break down real card buys and sales, decisions such as buying a PSA graded card vs. raw or BGS/SGC, testing out new platforms, attending card shows, and overall lessons learned navigating the hobby. If you're getting into sports card investing or looking to collect smarter, follow along and learn from my wins and mistakes.
What a Card Really Costs: The Case for Shipping in Comps · Shipping Belongs in Comps (and why I'm stocking up on Kevin Mcgonigle Red Bowman's)
This episode starts with one card, a Kevin McGonigle red Bowman I bought as a $100 FanCash bet on Rookie of the Year, and turns into the comp argument popular within the hobby: should shipping be included when we say what a card sold for? My answer is 100% yes. I break down why shipping is part of the real cost on both sides of a sale, why leaving it out distorts cheaper cards the most, and how I track true all-in cost on every card instead of a sticker price. Agree or think I am wrong? Let me know.

I Consigned 3 Cards to DCSports87 — I Made MORE Than Selling Myself
I sent 3 cards to DCSports87 for consignment for my first time.
Here's my honest review of the whole experience, start to finish.Overall, it was really smooth, I was happy with the prices, and I ended up with MORE money than if I'd auctioned them from my own account. Way more eyeballs on the cards too.
The 3 cards:
2024 Prizm WNBA Caitlin Clark base (PSA 9)
2024 Prizm WNBA Caitlin Clark Purple Prizm (PSA 8.5)
2024 Bowman Walker Jenkins Chrome Prospect Auto Refractor /499 (SGC 9, 10 auto)
Two things to watch out for if you submit cards for consignment:
Raw (ungraded) cards can go lower than you'd expect — buyers assume cards sent to consignment aren't in great shape.
Always double-check your listings — cards sometimes get mislabeled.

3 Card Sales That Taught Me 3 Lessons (Sunk Cost, Cost Basis & Timing)
I sold three cards recently, and each one taught me something I wish I'd understood earlier. In this episode I break down all three sales and the exact lessons behind them, so you can sell smarter than I did.
The 3 lessons:
1. Ignore the sunk cost fallacy. What you paid for a card is gone. The only number that matters when you sell is what it's worth right now, not what you need to "break even."
2. Know what you really paid. Your true cost isn't the sticker price. It's the item + shipping + fees + grading, all in. Get that wrong and every profit call after it is wrong too.
3. Timing is everything — know when to get out. Cards are a market. Reading the moment (hype, print run, the player's trajectory) is often the difference between a great sale and holding a bag.
The cards in this episode:
• Walker Jenkins — 2024 Bowman Chrome Prospect Auto, Speckle Refractor /299 (PSA 10)
• Caleb Williams — 2023 Bowman University 1st Auto
• Josh Allen — 2018 Panini Contenders Optic ROY Contenders Auto (BGS 9)
