[…] Back in the spring of this year, I was doing some hockey related research and I was shocked and excited to discover that Lord Stanley of Preston, who donated the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup, a.k.a. the Stanley Cup, had actually been laid to rest with members of his family in a recently rediscovered crypt under a church in Knowlesley, England, a mere 15 minute drive from my home. I contacted the church regarding going down and being able to see his final resting place, but it was deemed structurally unsafe and had to have some work done to be able to allow visitors. Fast forward to today, work has been completed and I got to go down and view the resting place of Lord Stanley. […]
