[…] But it was a bit of a spiral for the next month, month and a half. What did she tell you she was experiencing? Severe depression, a lot of anxiety, and the sleep didn't improve much. It improved a little bit, but she was still struggling to get sufficient sleep each night. And so it was just hard to catch up. Did you know anything about postpartum mental illness before this experience started? No. I could piece together what it was like to be really, really anxious or depressed. But I didn't know how to manage a postpartum illness. I think mental illness has this ability to be tragically deceptive. […]
