A Bottle and a Vinyl is a podcast hosted by Marco and Enett Jaimez. Unexpected Confessions: When Powerful Lyrics Strike a Chord — Juanes' Mi Sangre and Vida Cotidiana
Music has a powerful impact on many people. The lyrics written and expressed by songwriters can be relatable and reflective, making one look at life through a different lens. They serve as a mirror showing the listeners who they are and at times helping reframe, understand, and come to terms with the idea that the road they are on may need to be repaved and rebuilt.
Juanes' 2004 Mi Sangre and his 2024 release, Vida Cotidiana, are two albums with songs that do just that. On this episode, Marco opens up and tells all; discussing difficulties, regrets, embarrassment and making amends.

Borders, Badlands and Disappointments - Los Mesoneros and Nuestro Año
Cross-border travel for musicians often depends on navigating complex immigration policies and visa requirements. In recent years, these policies have impacted many musicians, forcing some to cancel their performances in the U.S. Venezuelan rockers Los Mesoneros are one such act. The band was forced to cancel a major U.S. and Canadian tour due to some unresolved U.S. immigration and visa issues.
For this conversation, Enett and Marco discuss how immigration and visa issues affect touring musicians and also how both were personally affected by Los Mesoneros' tour cancellation. They also talk about the band's 2024 album, Nuestro Año, taking the listeners through a song-by-song analysis.

Episode 7: The Stranger by Billy Joel
Billy Joel's 1977 album, The Stranger, is an iconic recording that seems built around Joel's raconteur style. This collection of songs is a masterclass in songwriting. In the cinematic journey that is "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant", he gives his audience a window into the story of a couple who had it all, only to end up separated after some difficult trials.
In the album, however, Joel is not only narrating the story of someone else - like in the aforementioned "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" and in the song "Moving Out (Anthony's Song)" - he also turns the lens on himself with the track "Vienna".
Enett and Marco provide their insights on these songs in this episode. They also sample a bottle of white, a bottle of red and a bottle of rosé, exploring the memories, emotions and stories behind Billy Joel's most beloved album.

That year proved to by a trying year with the passing of a dear loved one and the challenges of living in a strange but familiar place.
