Ep. 29 Rabies | A Case of the Mondays Podcast
🎙️ A Case of the Mondays – Episode 29RabiesThis week, the guys are back with world travel stories, birthdays, baseball, football, money, faith, old-school nostalgia, and—because it’s World Rabies Day—a surprisingly long conversation about one of the oldest and most terrifying diseases known to man.Lucas is back from traveling around the world and gives his unofficial one-star Google review of Paris after lost luggage, unhelpful airport workers, and an unexpected trip into the city. The guys also recap birthdays, the Savannah Bananas, Buc-ee’s, the Cyclones finally breaking their losing streak, and another weekend of football frustration. Then the conversation turns more serious. The guys talk about money, materialism, and the danger of letting financial security become a substitute for trusting God. From 1 Timothy 6 to the idea of serving God versus mammon, the challenge is to recognize when money starts promising the comfort, security, and peace that should ultimately come from Christ. There’s also a lesson from Nehemiah 3: sometimes the right thing to do is simply jump in and help. Goldsmiths, perfume makers, and everyday people all helped rebuild the wall—not because it was their profession, but because it was the work that needed to be done. And then… rabies. The guys dive into World Rabies Day, rabid dogs, bats, squirrels, tetanus, lockjaw, scary childhood warnings, and whether loose dogs in town should be tolerated at all. Somehow that leads into calling the old time-and-temperature phone number, remembering TV Guide, the Pickwood movie line, Schwan’s trucks, Kid Cuisines, and growing up in the 1900s.Plus:✈️ Paris, Hong Kong, lost luggage, and traveling around the world🎂 Birthday weekends and middle-aged celebrations⚾ Savannah Bananas at Globe Life Field🐗 Razorbacks, Cowboys, Cyclones, and Arkansas Tech💰 Money, materialism, mammon, and trusting God instead of wealth📖 Nehemiah and the importance of doing what needs to be done🧱 “That’s not my job” vs. stepping up and helping🐕 World Rabies Day and why loose dogs make everybody nervous🦇 Bats, squirrels, rabid animals, tetanus, and lockjaw☎️ Calling time and temperature like it’s 1997📺 TV Guide, movie hotlines, Schwan’s trucks, and 1900s nostalgia🎬 Nuremberg, The Big Short, and The BreadwinnerSometimes the lesson is complicated. Sometimes it’s pretty simple:Know what’s right. Do what’s right. Jump in. Do the work. And trust the Lord more than your money.A little bit of faith, a little bit of family, and a whole lot of randomness.
