How Did We Play WoW Before Guides? | Citizen of Azeroth Ep 5

Where was Mankrik’s wife… and how did we even find her? In this episode of Citizen of Azeroth, we go back to a time when World of Warcraft didn’t give you the answers. No quest markers, no add-ons, no step-by-step guides — just a quest log, vague directions, and a world you had to figure out on your own. We talk about what it was like to truly explore Azeroth. Getting lost in zones, reading quest text, asking other players for help, and sometimes wandering for hours just trying to complete a single quest. The legend of Mankrik’s Wife isn’t just a meme — it represents a time when discovery, confusion, and community were part of the experience. • WoW before quest helpers and add-ons • The Mankrik’s Wife quest and early game confusion • Learning through exploration and trial & error • Player-driven discovery and community interaction • Why modern WoW feels more guided and optimized We didn’t just follow the game… We had to figure it out. Did you actually find Mankrik’s wife on your own… or did you have to ask for help? Citizen of Azeroth Podcast Life first. Adventure when it fits.

Do You Remember Your First Mount? | Citizen of Azeroth – Episode 4

Do you remember your first mount in World of Warcraft? In this episode of Citizen of Azeroth, we dive into one of the most memorable milestones in WoW history — getting your first mount. From the long runs across Azeroth in early leveling to the feeling of finally moving faster, mounts weren’t just a feature… they were a reward, a status symbol, and a moment every player remembers. We explore how travel shaped the experience in WoW Classic, the grind to afford your first mount, and how systems like flying mounts in The Burning Crusade changed the way players interacted with the world. What once felt massive and immersive slowly became faster and more efficient — but did something get lost along the way? This episode is all about nostalgia, progression, and the moments that made Azeroth feel alive. • First mount memories in WoW • Classic leveling and travel experience • Mount progression and gold grind • Flying mounts and world design changes • Classic vs Retail WoW differences • Why movement systems impact immersion What was your first mount in WoW… and do you still remember how it felt? Why Leveling Still Matters in World of Warcraft | Citizen of Azeroth – Episode 3

For many players, the heart of World of Warcraft wasn’t the raid at the end of the expansion. It was the journey to get there. In Episode 3 of Citizen of Azeroth, we talk about leveling — the experience that once defined the soul of World of Warcraft. Long before endgame systems, Mythic+ routes, or optimization guides, leveling was the game itself. Exploring zones, learning your class, and slowly becoming stronger was the core adventure. But over the years, leveling has changed. Modern WoW often treats leveling as a fast track to the endgame, while earlier versions of the game treated leveling as the experience itself. The pace was slower, the world felt larger, and every new ability or zone felt meaningful. This episode reflects on how that shift changed the way players experience Azeroth. The Question Behind This Episode If leveling is now faster and more streamlined, what did we lose along the way? And more importantly — why do some players still love the leveling journey even today? For many players, leveling is still where the magic happens. It’s the moment when your character becomes your character. What character did you level that still feels like your character? What zone shaped your early memories of Azeroth? Whether it was Elwynn Forest, The Barrens, or somewhere deeper in the world — that journey probably still means something. Life first. Adventure when it fits.

Why We Always Come Back to WoW | Expansion Nostalgia & Burnout – Citizen of Azeroth Ep. 2

Why We Always Come Back to WoW There’s something about a new expansion launch in World of Warcraft. The countdown ends.Servers open.Guild chat scrolls faster than you can read. For a little while, Azeroth feels brand new again. Even if you’ve been gone for months… logging back in feels like coming home. In Episode 2 of Citizen of Azeroth, we talk about a pattern many long-time WoW players experience: the expansion cycle. We return for the excitement, the leveling, and the nostalgia — and eventually drift away again when life shifts, systems get heavier, or the magic fades. But maybe that cycle isn’t failure. Maybe it’s just how we belong to Azeroth now. This episode reflects on the emotional arc of returning to World of Warcraft and how different expansions shaped that experience. The journey starts with World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, the expansion that quietly became the benchmark for many players. Wrath had a clear story, a powerful villain, and a narrative that connected deeply with the Warcraft universe. Then came World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, which literally reshaped Azeroth and changed how the game played. Mechanics evolved, healing became more demanding, and the rhythm of the game shifted. Later expansions like World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria brought strong storytelling but also revealed how fragile guild communities could be when groups drift apart. For many players, World of Warcraft: Legion reignited the magic with class halls, identity-driven gameplay, and a story that felt alive. Other expansions — including World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, and World of Warcraft: Dragonflight — each pulled players back in different ways. Now many of us look toward Midnight, wondering if it might capture some of that old magic again. • Why Wrath of the Lich King became the emotional benchmark for WoW expansions • How expansion launches trigger nostalgia and returning players • The shift in guild culture and social identity within WoW • Why Legion held players longer than most expansions • How the expansion cycle may simply be seasonal belonging rather than burnout • Why coming back to Azeroth doesn’t mean you have to stay forever This podcast isn’t about patch notes, raid metas, or Mythic+ optimization. It’s about identity, nostalgia, and finding your place in Azeroth. What expansion always brings you back to World of Warcraft? Was it Wrath? Legion? Dragonflight? Or are you waiting for Midnight? Wherever you are in your journey — actively playing, taking a break, or thinking about returning — Azeroth will still be there. Life first.Adventure when it fits.

When WoW Started Feeling Like a Job | Citizen of Azeroth Ep. 1

“Why I’m Still Here (A Casual Player’s Return to Azeroth)” There’s a moment when you log back into World of Warcraft after months — or even years — away. The music swells. The loading screen fades. Your character is standing exactly where you left them. And for just a second… everything feels familiar again. That moment is why this podcast exists. In Episode 1 of Citizen of Azeroth, I share my journey from starting in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, diving deep into raiding during World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, stepping back during World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, and eventually returning to the game on my own terms. This isn’t a patch note podcast. It’s not a parse-chasing, min-maxing, 12-hour grind session. This is about being a casual player in a hardcore world. In this episode we talk about: • Why WoW started to feel like a second job• The pressure of “sweat” culture in dungeons and raids• Why playing became stressful instead of fun• Guild identity changes over the years• The difference between Retail and Classic nostalgia • Playing WoW as an adult with real-life responsibilities• Why immersion matters more than item level If you’ve ever felt behind before an expansion launch…If Mythic+ anxiety has made you avoid group content…If you log in for the story, the leveling, the music, and the world — not the meters… You’re not playing wrong. You’re just a citizen of Azeroth. This podcast is for returning players, casual gamers, adult WoW fans, and anyone who loves Azeroth but refuses to treat it like a job. New episodes explore mindset, nostalgia, burnout recovery, expansion stress, Classic vs Retail philosophy, gold-making pressure, and how to enjoy World of Warcraft without losing yourself in it. If WoW is your comfort game — your digital home — welcome. Pull up a chair at the inn.
