Ep. 38 From Winning Buckles to Winning Souls with Pastor Ron Martens
In this episode of A Latte with Laz, Laz sits down with Pastor Ron Martens of Clements Community Church, affectionately known as The Church on the Hill, for a conversation about rodeo, redemption, faith, discipleship, and what it means to finish well.
From riding bareback horses and chasing championship buckles to standing behind the pulpit and sharing the Gospel, Pastor Ron Martens has lived a life full of unexpected turns and God's unmistakable fingerprints.
Pastor Ron takes listeners back to his younger years as a rodeo cowboy, where courage, determination and a willingness to get back up after being thrown were simply part of life. But his journey didn't end in the arena. After hanging up his chaps, Ron pursued a career in pharmacy, spending more than three decades serving others before eventually answering God's call to pastoral ministry.
Along the way, something happened that would change his life forever: Ron surrendered his life to Jesus Christ.
He shares how that decision transformed his relationship with God and why, decades later, he remains passionate about giving others the opportunity to experience that same life-changing salvation.
The conversation also explores the importance of discipleship, the influence of those who invested in Ron and his wife and his conviction that Christians are called to do two things:
Grow and Go.
Grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, mature in faith and then go into the world and live in a way that allows others to see Christ through us.
Laz and Ron also discuss the difference between knowing Scripture and truly surrendering to Jesus, why salvation isn't something we can earn through good behavior or religious accomplishments and the beauty of recognizing God's hand throughout the different seasons of our lives.
Whether someone started strong, stumbled along the way or is only now beginning their walk with Christ, the invitation remains the same:
Finish well.

Ep. 37 Work Hard & Give Back with Dave Toole
In this episode of A Latte with Laz, Laz sits down with local businessman, car enthusiast and community supporter Dave Toole, owner of Toole’s Garage, for a conversation about hard work, success, family, generosity and the kind of legacy worth building.
Dave shares the story behind his work ethic and the years of sacrifice, persistence and delayed gratification that went into building Toole’s Garage. He explains why chasing money was never the answer, instead, he learned to focus on becoming a person of value and discovered that when someone consistently creates value for others, success has a way of following.
The conversation goes far beyond business. Dave opens up about marriage, becoming a stepfather and now a grandfather, his lifelong love of cars, the lessons learned from bringing communities together through car shows and why giving back has remained such an important part of his life. What makes a life well lived?
Because success isn't only about what someone earns, owns or builds.
It's about the people they serve, the family they love, the value they create and what they leave behind.
Work hard. Give back. And build something that matters.

Ep. 36 Real Talk with Laz & Mo You Asked & We Answered
In this episode of A Latte with Laz, Laz and Monica are back for another Real Talk with Laz & Mo. This time, they're turning the conversation over to their listeners, answering real questions about faith, marriage, parenting, relationships and everyday life.
Over a late-night cup of Cuban coffee, they tackle some deeply personal and thought-provoking questions. Some questions are deeply personal, others challenge long-held beliefs and a few deserve entire episodes of their own.
Laz and Monica don't claim to have all the answers. Instead, they approach each question through Scripture, practical wisdom, personal experiences and a desire to seek the Holy Spirit's guidance.
Because following Jesus isn't just about what someone believes on Sunday. It's about how that faith is lived out in marriage, parenting, relationships and the decisions made every single day.
This episode is also a special thank-you to the listeners who submitted questions, shared posts and continue to support the podcast. Their encouragement and stories are a reminder of the mission behind A Latte with Laz: encouraging others and pointing hearts back to God.
