Good morning and welcome to our daily podcast. This week we join Mary Ryan from Kilburn for our short moment of prayer and reflection with today's Gospel message.
In today's gospel, Jesus tells us that much is required from the person to whom much is given, and much more is required from the person to whom much more is given. Jesus' parable of the faithful or unfaithful servant calls those who have heard the Word of God to be like the faithful servant, and to do the Father's will in their daily lives, and so then, to reap their heavenly reward. The unfaithful servant who knowingly neglects God's will forfeits their place in the kingdom. We have a choice. Lord, help us to discern God's will for us, and to willingly follow this guidance. Steady us in times of doubt and reluctance so that we return to God's ways. Make us trusty servants reflect your love through us. Amen. Glory be to the father, and to the son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Have a blessed day.

Good morning and welcome to our daily podcast. This week we join Mary Ryan from Kilburn for our short moment of prayer and reflection with today's Gospel message.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Good morning, and welcome to a Moment to Pause with the Oblate family. Jesus spoke often about the need to be ready for the coming of the Son of Man - which will be at a time we are not expecting - ready in the sense of living lives pleasing to God and in solidarity with our neighbours, especially the poor and the needy. In today's gospel, Jesus spoke of our need to be like the watchful servants who are ready in every way for their master to return to a well-run house with their lamps lit after his time away at a wedding. This is a challenge to make every day count, and not put off the changes we need to make in our lives so that we're pleasing to God all the time. Lord, help us to be mindful of the needs of others and to do your will to live our daily lives guided by the gospel values. And like the Watchful Servant, be ready for the coming of the Lord. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, forever and ever. Amen.Have a blessed day!

In today's gospel, Jesus warned against greed, the desire to accumulate more and more worldly wealth, because this is not the wealth that leads us to God and our salvation.
In the parable of the Rich Fool, Jesus highlighted the futility of the rich farmer who built bigger, bigger barns to store his crops and planned to live a life of ease and pleasure but was told by God his life was to end and his riches would be left for others and be of no use to him.
Because of his greed, the rich fool was not pleasing to God. He lacked the true wealth of being judged righteous by God. Lord, help us to have generous hearts to do our part in making God's kingdom here on earth, by sharing with and serving others for God's glory. And on death with God's grace and mercy receiving our reward in heaven.
Glory be to the father, and to the son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Have a great day.
