About A Path Home

What is a home funeral? How can I have a green burial? Do I have to hire a Funeral Director? On this podcast we’ll be focusing on reclaiming our innate right to care for our own loved ones at death in natural, and often, environmentally friendly ways. We’ll demystify the tasks related to after death care through hearing stories from people who have ventured into culturally unfamiliar territory and cared for their own deceased loved ones at home, chose a natural burial or both. Hearing what’s possible and how lives have been transformed by engaging in this final act of love is one path towards changing our culture and our relationship to death. A Path Home is a production of the National Home Funeral Alliance.

[…] He had had a cardiac checkup with the whole nine yards and everything was fine, but the symptoms were intermittent and I had actually talked him into another doctor visit and into maybe going to see a specialist, and we had an appointment booked. But he was very resistant to that. He was very adamant he didn't want to be medicalized. He didn't want, he said, to spend his whole life just shuttling back and forth to the doctor's office, and he didn't want to be sucked into the system. He didn't want to be kept alive, as he put it. I, on the other hand, didn't want him to die. But none of the doctors who had looked at him, and certainly not me, we thought that there was cause for some concern, and maybe we should do a little more diagnostics just to see if there was a problem.
