Podcast Overview

A Penny or Two for Your Thoughts was created by two moms, two marketers, two women new to the financial industry who had a lot of questions. Banking and finances can be emotional and sometimes it's hard to ask questions we think we should know. That is where Chantel and Liz jump in asking all the questions, hoping they can help listeners along their financial journey. The episodes are interview-style with knowledgeable local guests. Each episode carries fantastic subject matter expertise that is easy to understand and relatable; sprinkled in with humor to engage listeners with a smile or a chuckle or two! We also end each episode by asking the guest to leave listeners with a Penny or Two for Their Thoughts which would be the key takeaways they would like the listeners to remember.

If you have any questions you would like us to ask our Subject Matter Experts, send them our way to apennyforyourthoughts@centrisfcu.org

Follow Centris on Social!

This is another Hurrdat Media Production. Human trafficking isn't a distant problem. It's happening in your community, in your schools, and even in financial systems. In this episode of A Penny or Two for Your Thoughts, hosts Chantel Windeshausen and Liz Malmberg sit down with two women doing the hard, daily work of stopping it before it starts. Stephanie Olson is the CEO and Founder of The Set Me Free Project, an Omaha-based nonprofit whose mission is to stop human trafficking before it starts through prevention education for every age, kindergarten through adult. Joining her is Mollie Champion, BSA Fraud Coordinator at Centris Federal Credit Union and a trained volunteer presenter with The Set Me Free Project, who breaks down how human trafficking intersects with financial crime, money laundering, and the red flags that credit unions and banks are trained to watch for. It's OK Not to Be OK: Workplace Wellness, EAPs & Breaking the Stigma | APOTFYT
Workplace mental health affects every team, every manager, and every employee — but most people still don't know what to say or where to turn. In this episode of A Penny or Two for Your Thoughts, hosts Chantel Windeshausen and Liz Malmberg sit down with a panel of experts to talk openly about recognizing when a coworker is struggling, how to start that conversation, and the resources available to help. Joining the conversation are Molly Woodman, Director of Community Engagement at the Kim Foundation — a Nebraska nonprofit dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health awareness — and Terry Coleman, Clinical Manager at Best Care Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides confidential counseling to hundreds of Omaha-area companies and their employees. Centris Federal Credit Union’s own Chrissy Cunningham (Benefits Administrator) and Robin Fredieu (Director of Learning & Development) share how Centris is equipping its people leaders with the training and tools to build a psychologically safe workplace. From warning signs managers should watch for, to why confidentiality in EAP counseling is ironclad, to the simple power of asking "How are you?" — this episode delivers practical, compassionate guidance anyone can use. If you or someone you know needs support, dial or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or visit bestcare.org and kimfoundation.org for free resources. – About A Penny or Two for Your Thoughts – When it comes to all things financial, there are often a lot of questions. Why Credit Building Matters After Prison - A Powerful Omaha Reentry Story | APOTFYT
What does it really take to rebuild a life after prison? In this episode of A Penny or Two for Your Thoughts, hosts Chantel Windeshausen and Liz Malmberg sit down with Ivonne Yvonne Martinez, Financial Sales Manager at Centris’ Ames branch in Omaha, and Shane Reilly, Program Director and Development Director of Never Give Up Transitional Living, to talk about recovery, reentry, second chances, and the role financial education can play in helping people move forward. Shane shares his powerful story of addiction, incarceration, recovery, education, and how he built a new path helping other men returning from prison. Ivonne Yvonne explains how Centris partners with Never Give Up to teach credit, savings, secured loans, and financial basics that help participants build confidence and stability. Together, they unpack why trust, accountability, community, and financial tools matter so much in the reentry process. The episode also highlights how Never Give Up Transitional Living supports men through structured recovery, housing, credit building, employment support, and skilled-trades training in Omaha. Never Give Up describes itself as an 84-day structured transitional housing program under the nonprofit Good Turn Labor, supporting formerly incarcerated individuals as they reintegrate into the community.
