About A Souful Pause
A Soulful Pause is a space for women who have lived enough life to know when something inside them is shifting. This is not a podcast about fixing yourself, optimizing your mindset, or pushing through the next chapter. It’s a place to slow down and listen to the intelligence of emotion, to the wisdom born of lived experience, to the quiet moments when clarity arrives before words. Each episode offers a pause from performance and pressure, and an orientation toward what is real, present, and asking for attention now. Sometimes that comes through solo reflections. Sometimes, through conversations with women who are living, questioning, leading, and evolving from the inside out. A Soulful Pause speaks to midlife not as a crisis; it is a threshold, where survival loosens its grip and a deeper way of living begins to emerge. This show is for women who are not interested in becoming someone new, only in remembering who they are beneath the roles, rules, and expectations they’ve outgrown. If something here resonates, it’s not a coincidence. It’s recognition and alignment. josettediaz.substack.com (https://josettediaz.substack.com/s/podcasts?utm_medium=podcast)

The Who Before the Why
Until you get clear on who you are, you won’t be content with what you do or why you do it. That’s the heart of Diane Wyzga’s Origin Story work, and it’s the conversation I’m sharing with you this week on A Soulful Pause. For thirty years, Diane has helped people take a story only they could hear and bring it into the world: the publishing world, the courtroom, hospitals, board meetings, the airwaves. She started as a Navy nurse, became a lawyer and litigation consultant, and walked all five hundred miles of the Camino de Santiago before turning fully to storytelling. In this episode, Diane and I talk about: * What the Origin Story is, and why the Who has to come before the Why * What she hears most often when midlife women begin telling a truer version of their story * How being seen, not for what she does but for who she is, changes the story a woman tells about herself * What a woman goes on to create once she has been seen: in her relationships, her work, and her next chapter * Why midlife looks so much like a pilgrimage, and what’s worth setting down along the way If you’ve ever felt mid-trail in your own life, I hope this conversation keeps you company. Share if it touches you, and subscribe. This is a public episode. From Luxury to Nomad - Melissa Hidrobo
For twenty years, Melissa Hidrobo led luxury boutiques for CHANEL, Louis Vuitton, and Tiffany & Co., the kind of career most people spend a lifetime chasing. And then, one ordinary night, a sentence rose up in her that she couldn’t unhear: I don’t want to do this anymore. That single sentence began a complete redesign of her life. In this episode of A Soulful Pause, Melissa and I talk about what it actually costs to keep performing a life that no longer fits, even when it looks successful from the outside. She’s now a Career Exit Strategist, helping high-achieving professionals design intentional, strategic exits from careers they’ve outgrown. She holds an MBA and a Master’s in Transpersonal Psychology, and today she splits her time between Miami and Ecuador, living the very thing she teaches: that the real risk was never leaving. The real risk was staying. We talk about the gap between knowing you’re done and actually leaving, that quiet, disorienting season where you don’t yet know what’s next but you know you can’t go back. And we talk about the difference between an impulsive exit and a strategic one, and why that distinction matters more than most people realize. If you’ve had your own late-night moment, the one where something in you finally said enough, this conversation is for you. Truth-Telling as a Feminine Art
How do you treat the people you love when you’re upset? In this episode, we slow down to explore the half-second between feeling and reacting, and what it takes to tell the truth without leaving a mark on anyone we love. Together we’ll unpack the difference between the wound that speaks first and the arrival that gets to choose, and walk through a simple, embodied practice for locating what’s true in your body before your mind builds a story around it. This is an invitation to hold your feelings and your honesty in the same hand, gently, and without apology. This episode is part of the Feminine Wisdom Circle, held once a month and always free. Register to join live or receive the free recording afterward. Questions explored in this episode: * How do you treat others when you’re upset? * Do you react in the moment, or can you recognize how you feel versus what you think? * How can you tell the truth without hurting anyone? Steady Love in an Emotional World
Steady Love in an Emotional World Valentine’s Day often centers on romantic love, hearts, devotion, chemistry, and connection. Yet there is another form of love that rarely gets named. In this episode of A Soulful Pause, we explore mature love, the kind that does not depend on approval, agreement, or emotional fusion. The kind that can hold a boundary without cruelty. The kind that feels deeply without weaponizing pain. The kind that does not abandon itself to preserve peace. This conversation invites midlife women into a deeper question: What if love is not softness alone…What if it is: steadiness? emotional regulation? inner authority in action? We explore: • The difference between reactive emotion and regulated response • Why boundaries are an expression of love, not a rejection of it • How midlife shifts the way we love, from approval to alignment • The emotional discipline required to love without hardening An integrated love. The kind that begins inside. Take a breath. Pause with me. Let’s redefine love. This is a public episode. Where We Learned to Place Our Worth
Where We Learned to Place Our Worth A Soulful Pause on Childhood Imprints and the Return Home In this episode of A Soulful Pause, I explore how childhood quietly teaches us where our worth lives, often attaching it to objects, roles, achievements, or identities that feel like proof we are enough. This conversation is inspired by my chapter Topaz — A Path of Returning in Voices of the 21st Century, yet it moves beyond the story itself into the deeper remembering beneath it. We trace the long arc many women walk:From early symbols that anchor identity…To adult patterns that protect those symbols…To the midlife moment when the soul begins asking different questions. This is not a conversation about fixing yourself. It’s about recognizing what was never lost. Midlife isn’t a breakdown — it’s a reckoning. If you’ve ever felt disoriented by change… If something that once defined you has fallen away… If you sense a quiet call to come home to yourself… This pause is for you. A few gentle questions to begin noticing: What belief about your worth did you inherit? What symbol once carried your identity? What would it feel like to place your worth back where it belongs? If you didn’t need to prove your value…what would shift? This is a public episode. Ritual, Superstition & the New Moon
In this episode, we explore ritual, superstition, and magical thinking, not as curiosities from the past, but as living responses within the modern nervous system. Long before planners, productivity tools, or self-improvement frameworks, women gathered around fire, moon cycles, and symbolic acts to create safety during change. Ritual was a way to stay connected when the ground beneath them shifted. Arriving alongside the New Moon in Capricorn, this conversation gently examines how we build our lives, carry responsibility, and unconsciously rely on patterns that once helped us survive. Together, we explore the difference between ritual as alchemy, participation in something larger, and ritual as control, the belief that if we do things “right,” nothing will fall apart. We look at subtle superstitions, the discomfort with rest, the anxiety that arises in stillness, and the urge to stay busy when quiet appears. Not as flaws to fix, but as intelligent signals from a nervous system that learned safety through doing. A Soulful Pause offers space to notice where survival has been mistaken for truth, and to begin listening for the quieter authority beneath it. This is a public episode. The Moment Logic Is No Longer Enough
I sat down with Adam Dickinson, an expert in Logic-to-Intuition Integration who helps people understand and interpret their inner intelligence as their awareness expands. After spending more than 15 years solving problems through logic at the FBI, Adam experienced an internal shift that required him to navigate inner signals, emotional resonance, and expanded states of awareness in a grounded, practical way. His work brings clarity, confidence, and structure to a process that often feels confusing or overwhelming. This is a powerful, grounded conversation about what actually happens when your awareness expands, and how to move through inner evolution with both logic and intuition working together. The End of Survival
* There is a kind of exhaustion that appears in midlife that rest does not fix. It isn’t about being busy.It isn’t about doing too much. And it isn’t a failure of resilience. In this episode, we speak to something many women are carrying quietly,an exhaustion that arrives after decades of responsibility, emotional labor, caregiving, and holding it all together. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking,“I shouldn’t feel this tired. I’ve handled harder things than this.”This conversation is for you. If you’re navigating midlife with more questions than answers, you’re invited to subscribe for pause, clarity, and inner listening. This episode delves into a deeper truth about burnout, reframing it not as collapse, but as the moment when survival has completed its work. Together, we name what survival mode actually is, how it forms without consent, and why midlife often becomes the moment it asks to release its grip. This is not a diagnosis. It’s an orientation.A recognition. Be sure to listen, if you feel the quiet sense that something in you is ready to live differently, not harder, not faster, simply more honestly. This is a public episode. Hidden Patterns in Relationships & Identities
We don’t become who we are in isolation, we shape ourselves in response to what we’ve experienced, especially in relationships. Often, we carry unconscious patterns that silently direct how we connect, love, give, and protect ourselves. These patterns can keep us stuck in roles, identities, or dynamics that no longer serve us. This conversation explores how hidden emotional scripts, belief systems, and relational habits shape both who we think we are and how we show up with others. When we slow down and bring awareness to these patterns, we create space to choose something different, something truer. Join us as we unravel the subtle imprints of our past and reclaim the power to relate and live with intention, from the inside out. This is a public episode.
