My Last Resort Became My Only Option | Becoming Dr. Brelynn… Just Not How I Imagined | Show Finale
Hi friends! Welcome back to another episode of **A Work in Progress: The Podcast**.
Today is unlike any other episode because it's the end of an era.
In this show finale, I'm sharing the full-circle story of how my dream of becoming a doctor finally came true—but not in the way I spent nearly a decade imagining. After eight years of pursuing medical school, four MCAT attempts, two master's degrees, countless rejections, moments of uncertainty, and seasons where I questioned everything, I found myself faced with a decision I never thought I'd make.
For years, attending a Caribbean medical school represented my absolute last resort. It was the path I promised myself I would only consider if every other door remained closed. But somewhere along the journey, God challenged me to ask a difficult question: *Was I holding onto my own plan more tightly than I was trusting His?*
In this deeply personal episode, I'm sharing why my last resort ultimately became my only option, what it looked like to surrender my expectations, and how I found peace choosing a path that once terrified me. This isn't just a story about getting accepted to medical school—it's a testimony about obedience, identity, disappointment, faith, and discovering that God's plan is often better than the one we spend years trying to force.
Whether you've been listening since Episode 1 or you're joining me for the very first time, thank you for walking alongside me through every season of becoming.
As one chapter closes, another begins.
See you in medical school.

I’m Smarter than This! Rejecting my Fear of the MCAT
hi friends! Welcome back to another episode of a work in progress the podcast!
In this episode, I’m sharing a major breakthrough as I step back into my MCAT studying season. For a long time, I allowed fear and self-doubt to overshadow my potential, but today I’m declaring that those days are over. The MCAT, for me, has been more than just an exam—it’s been a battleground of spiritual warfare. But now, with God by my side, I’m rejecting fear and embracing the truth: *I’m smarter than that.*
Last episode, we talked about not sacrificing the future for temporary comfort, and this ties directly into that theme. I’m choosing to make the hard, intentional decisions now so that no test or challenge will hold power over me in the form of anxiety or self-doubt. This time, with God, will be the best and the last time.
Tune in as I reflect on this breakthrough and encourage you to face your own battles with faith, courage, and confidence.
