Born in the Sharqia Governorate in 1960, Sheikh Abdulbaset Abulazm memorized the entire Quran by the tender age of 12 in 1972. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Al-Azhar education, starting at the Bilbeis Institute in 1974 and culminating in his secondary school graduation in 1981. In 1982, he enrolled in the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion at Al-Azhar University in Cairo. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Fundamentals of Religion, specializing in Interpretation and Qur’anic Sciences, in 1986. He also obtained a postgraduate diploma, further enriching his academic foundation. Throughout his studies, the Sheikh had the privilege of learning from several esteemed scholars of the Holy Quran. These include Sheikh Abdel Fattah Jadoua, who instructed him in Tajweed and the art of recitation; Sheikh Rizk Al-Khidrawy, from whom he learned the recitation of Hafs with a specific method; and Sheikh Salem Mohammed Salem Hilal, who taught him another variation of the Hafs recitation. He also studied parts of the Quran with Sheikh Rizk Khalil Habba and Professor Dr. Ahmed Aissa El Masarawi, both former prominent figures in Quranic recitations in Egypt. Currently, the Sheikh serves as the Imam of Al-Hussein Bin Ali Mosque in Doha, Qatar, continuing his work in Islamic centers and religious institutions.
