All art is subjective and there are innumerable obstacles that can feel endemic to the creative process; no matter the artistic field or how experienced the artist. Hosted by writer Alexx T. Holden, Abject Demiurge is a podcast for creatives of all kinds to discuss their work as well as their personal struggles with success and how they have or are navigating them.
In episode 10, I discuss where we started, where we are, and what to look forward to next season.

Episode 9: Esmari (Writer/Costume Designer)
In episode 9, I talk with Esmari about how burnout can tarnish the love you have for something, how a major devastating failure can turn out to be for the best in retrospect, and we discuss the complex mechanics of craft and why dedication and persistence are paramount.

Episode 8: Nicole (Writer)
WARNING: Technical issue - while I fixed the problems from last week, this week, there is a steady crackling (called clipping?) on my end. After the recording was completed, I did some troubleshooting and fixed the issue. It's only an issue on my mic, so please don't let it take away from Nicole's story. #workinprogress
In episode 8, I talk to Nicole about how, while pain and trauma may inform our art, we are more than that as artists, the different ways of maintaining a creative habit when life happens, and the stability that exists within one's creative nature.

Episode 7: Alexx (Tangent #1)
STARTLE WARNING: The intro, transition, and outro audio is obnoxiously louder than my voice. #workinprogress
In episode 7 (not 5, wtf), I mark the first Tangent episode, in which I failed to book a guest as I’ve not yet mastered this new time management business. In it, I discuss potential format changes, lessons learned from the previous episodes, and what can be expected going forward.
Since I don't have a guest this week, I'm leaving my Linktree QRCode up for the duration, but I have added a link for my #ExtraLife4Kids donation page.

Episode 6: Michael (Coffee Roaster/Singer-Songwriter/Craft Rum & Botanical Distiller)
WARNING: Audio issues. My coffee-drinking, pouring, and thermos-ing is obnoxiously loud in this episode. Apologies in advance. #workinprogress
In episode 6, I talk to Michael about so much stuff, including but not limited to roasting, music, distilling, and most importantly, NOT staying in your lane, pushing boundaries, and not letting others define your failures for you.

Episode 5: Jeremiah (Writer)
In episode 5, Jeremiah and I discuss the benefit of writing for one's own personal well-being, the effects of self-imposed isolation on the writer's voice, and how balancing ego and humility can be, at times, an impossible task - but that it's totally okay.

Episode 2: Pilot
I'm Alex and this is my podcast, Abject Demiurge: A Podcast for Creators in which we discuss failures and rejections within the artistic community in the hopes of destigmatizing the conversation.
In this second pilot, I discuss the purpose behind the show and the concept going forward. The purpose of this podcast is to allow space for discussion on failures and rejections within the artistic community in the hopes of destigmatizing the conversation. We'll consider this second attempt a success so far... unless I find out otherwise.

Episode 1: Failed Pilot
I'm Alex and this is my podcast, Abject Demiurge: A Podcast for Creators in which we discuss failures and rejections within the artistic community in the hopes of destigmatizing the conversation.
In this test pilot, I attempt to talk about the purpose behind the podcast and introduce the concept going forward. The purpose of this podcast is to allow space for discussion on failures and rejections within the artistic community in the hopes of destigmatizing the conversation. As this attempt failed, for the sake of posterity it, and any other failures from here on out, will as well. Next week I will try again. And every Friday after until we have a show.
