About, From, & With is a podcast that shares conversations where listeners learn about, from, and with SLPs (both clinicians and researchers) working with children, as well as other professionals that SLPs collaborate with. Host, Dr. Danika Pfeiffer, also shares stories from her own journey as an SLP pursuing a career in academia.
In this season finale episode, I chat with Dr. Tiffany Hogan, a Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, who shares her experiences and advice for negotiating for faculty positions. Dr. Hogan shares a faculty perspective on the negotiation process. She provides an overview of the process, explains how to prepare for negotiations, things to avoid doing during negotiations, and the types of things applicants can negotiate for. Dr. Hogan also provides examples of wording that can be used during the negotiation process to justify counter-offers.
