[…] So in these cases, what I help patients see is that cycling back is not regression. It's not evidence that Any work that they may have done didn't hold or that they're failing in some way. It really is the nature of grief. It's tracking an illness that keeps cycling, an illness that's unpredictable. And so the grief's not stuck. They're not doing anything wrong. They don't need to be worried that they should have done something differently. That's just their illness kind of showing up in the unfortunate, accurate ways that it does and doing what it does. So that alone, I think, can also resonate for a lot of people in a positive way. […]
