EP. 20: Building on the Rock

In this episode, we talk about what it really means to build your life on the solid foundation of Christ. We unpack how one-on-one discipleship and “life on life” relationships can transform student-athletes far beyond the field. We share how Jesus invites us to come to Him, weary and broken, and walk through what it looks like to actually hear God’s voice in the middle of all the noise. We also dig into why faithfulness matters more than being “the best,” and how loving others both inside and outside the church flows from remaining in Christ’s love. We tell real stories, from baptisms on Mountaineer Field to the Samaritan woman at the well, that show what happens when people encounter Jesus and let Him rebuild their foundation.

EP. 19: The God Who Restores with Brian Wilson

In this episode, we’re joined by Brian Wilson, pastor, father of WVU golfer and FCA leader Kaleb Wilson, and the first parent of an athlete to join the podcast. Brian shares honestly about the journey of raising a college athlete, the tension of wanting success for your child, and how easy it can be to let performance become the focus instead of the relationship. Through golf, something he once couldn’t stand, God ended up restoring not only family relationships but also his perspective as a father.

Looking at Joel 2 and the promise that God can “restore the years the locusts have eaten,” we talk about regret, redemption, and the beauty of watching God give back what feels lost. This conversation is a powerful reminder for parents and athletes alike: your identity is never found in sport, achievement, or performance, but in Christ. Whether you’re sending your child off to college, chasing a dream, or learning how to let go and trust God, this episode points back to the faithfulness of a God who restores what matters most.

EP. 18: From Coveting to Contentment

In this episode, we finish our Ten Commandments series by looking at the final commandment: do not covet. We talk about how comparison, jealousy, and the desire for more can quietly take root in our hearts, especially in athletics, where it’s easy to want someone else’s position, success, or recognition. Through Scripture in James 1, 1 Timothy 6, Philippians 4, and Psalm 23, we unpack how coveting often leads to anger, bitterness, and broken relationships, while contentment leads us back to trust in God. This conversation is a reminder that true peace comes when we stop chasing what isn’t ours and start believing that if the Lord is our Shepherd, we truly lack nothing.
