Abundate: Learning a language is not what you think

About Abundate: Learning a language is not what you think

Learning isn't what you think – but so much more. Abundate is for curious people navigating complexity: in their work, their learning, their value, and their lives. Hosted by educator, experience designer and lifelong learner Hedvig Sandbu, this podcast asks the questions that don't have tidy answers. If you've ever felt like the boxes you live in weren't quite built for you, you're in the right place. My aim with this podcast is to practise being a little messy – thinking out loud, sitting with uncertainty, and trusting that the questions matter even when the answers are ever-evolving.

I made an app that’s been waiting to be created for over 4 years

I made an app to help ambitious people prevent burnout, find focus, and stay aligned on what matters. A simple ritual I’ve been doing consistently for years. I’m not waiting until I’ve figured everything out to share it with you.

   So much better than streaks

As someone who has been professionally engaged in goal setting and habit building for 7 years (and personally interested for much longer), something that keeps annoying me is the way so many apps seem to try to motivate people using streaks... When in reality, streaks only work for some kinds of habits, and some kinds of goals, and once a streak is broken, your motivation is, too. Streaks are fragile and there's a much better way to think about your goals and habits.

Ambitious *and* happy! (Yes to both)

Here's a story that seems to be everywhere these days: “You can be ambitious, or you can be happy”. In this episode I explore how you actually *can* be both ambitious and content at the same time – and what it takes to nurture healthy versions of both. When healthy ambition and contentment coexist, that's energy. I've probably experienced every permutation of these personally – would love to hear from you if you've been there, too!
