Governing The Non-Human Workforce: Can Healthcare Trust AI Agents?
As healthcare organizations begin to adopt agentic AI systems that can make decisions and take action, a critical question is emerging: can healthcare trust these agents to operate safely on its behalf?
New research from Imprivata and Vanson Bourne titled The Agentic AI Trust Gap: Why Healthcare Needs Identity-Led Governance reveals both strong optimism about agentic AI’s potential and significant gaps in visibility, governance, and accountability. While 88% expect AI agents to operate with some degree of autonomy across clinical and operational workflows, 72% report that AI tools or agents are deployed without formal IT approval at least occasionally.
In this episode, Chip Hughes is joined by Travis Favaron, Imprivata’s resident technical expert on agentic AI, and Dr. Sean Kelly, Imprivata’s chief medical officer, to explore what the findings of this research mean for healthcare. They discuss why AI agents need their own identities, how organizations should define delegated authority, where human oversight is essential, and what healthcare leaders can do now to build trust in the next generation of AI.

Episode 11: The Access Challenge of CJIS Compliance: Securing Public Safety Without Slowing It Down
Mission-critical organizations depend on secure, reliable access to information, but stronger security methods often introduces access friction for frontline workers. Public safety agencies are experiencing that tension firsthand as they work to meet evolving CJIS compliance requirements. In this episode of Access Point, guest host Nick Stohlman, VP of CJIS Program Strategy at Imprivata fills in for Joel alongside co-host Chip Hughes for a discussion with Jacqueline Ray, Director of Cybersecurity at the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office in Ohio. Drawing on both Hamilton County's real-world experience and new survey data from public safety professionals nationwide, they explore practical lessons for improving security, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Episode 10: Frontline without Friction: Why Modern Access Management is Essential for Mobile Devices
In today’s fast-paced environments, frontline workers depend on mobile devices to access critical systems, information, and workflows in real time. But without seamless and secure authentication, those same tools can introduce friction, risk, and inefficiency. In this episode of Access Point, James Poulton from Zebra Technologies explores why digital identity is foundational to enabling fast, secure access on shared and mobile devices—without disrupting the flow of work. He also shares his perspective on why integration between devices and identity platforms is helping organizations improve productivity, strengthen security, and support better outcomes across mission-critical industries.

Episode #6: Beyond Passwords: Fixing Healthcare’s Digital Front Door without Slowing Care
Passwords were never designed for the speed, complexity, or risk profile of modern healthcare—but they still sit at the center of how clinicians and patients access critical systems. In this episode of Access Point, Dr. Sean Kelly, Chief Medical Officer at Imprivata and a practicing emergency room physician, explores why traditional authentication is failing healthcare on two fronts: slowing clinicians at the point of care and weakening confidence in patient identity. Dr. Kelly connects real-world clinical experience with recent industry research to explain how password-based access contributes to workflow friction, clinician burnout, security exposure, and patient identification errors.
