We're reading and discussing Wild Cards, a set of shared-world superhero novels edited by George R. R. Martin. We don't own Wild Cards and this is not an official podcast. We use brief clips from the audiobooks and other sources to illustrate and aid discussion. Spoilers abound. Support us at https://patreon.com/acesjokerspod
Deuces Down, Part 2: hey kid, your mom's a Real Doll
In this episode we discuss the second half of Deuces Down (Wild Cards Book 16).
Show Notes
Keeping it teeny and tidy:
We think the first time we saw Gangsta Joey was in Down and Dirty (Book 5), when Yeoman puts an arrow through the arms of an unnamed mafioso. Let us know if we got that wrong.
Here's the pic Ben wanted you to see.

Deuces Down, Part 1: Unaffected Child of Nature
In this episode we discuss the first half of Deuces Down (Wild Cards Book 16).
Show Notes
Short and sweet, friends:
Read John Jos. Miller's Wild Card and Sports article now, please.
You can add songs that are relevant to Wild Cards to our Wild Cards Songs playlist, but please make sure they're directly relevant. Someone has added a Billie Eilish song; I don't have the energy to determine whether it's actually right for the playlist so whatever. Maybe drop us a note with your thinking, Spotify User lmr1818.
Why not take a gander at GRRM's original announcement of the publication of Deuces Down?

Superhero TV: Local, Sustainable, Organic Insulin
In this episode we discuss superhero TV, mostly the new Watchmen series, but a few others too. We also try to figure out how the wealth of superhero TV we already have may or may not impact what Hulu could do with Wild Cards.
This episode is FREE to everyone including Patreon patrons--and don't worry; we'll be back to books in the new year.
Show Notes
Just a few bits and pieces:
Re Jordan Peterson: It seems I actually stopped reading at 52% through the book, so I guess I only understand 6 rules for living, but I noticed a few things that made sense and a few things that made me feel uncomfortable. I made Goodreads notes which you can read here--why not try to figure out which was which? (Also feel free to add me as a friend on Goodreads if you want to. I wish I had friends.)
Ben mentioned the influence 24 had on Dubya. Here's more info from The Guardian and The Independent.
I made a throwaway reference to Christopher Hitchens. Here's what he had to say about waterboarding, after experiencing it firsthand.
Our Patreon backers almost always get early access to episodes (although this time I'm putting this one everywhere at once), and access to special bonus episodes! So please back us at https://www.patreon.com/acesjokerspod
THANK YOU again to Angeleah and Warren for being top tier Puppetmen backers.
