Combining Two Cultures for an American Holiday
Thanks for waiting! This episode was recorded pre-Thanksgiving, and we're a little late to upload. Thanksgiving festivities took over! BUT in this episode, we talk about Thanksgiving, how we both celebrate the holiday, how we integrate our cultures with the holiday, what we did for Thanksgiving, and most importantly, what we're grateful for this year in 2020.
This is also a bittersweet episode because our co-host, Carol will be leaving Across Seas. Carol will be focusing on grad school but Across Seas will always welcome her back as a guest!! So stay tuned for future episodes, especially episodes discussing social issues! (hint hint)
Hope you all had an amazing and wonderful Thanksgiving and I look forward to hearing/seeing in my DM's what you're grateful and thankful for this year!

Shedding Light on Adoption! - Allie’s mini series
November is National Adoption Month and I’m here with one of my friends; my Canandaigua babe - Emily! We’re both adopted, but have had different upbringings. Emily was adopted by white parents and I was adopted by Asian parents. So in light of Adoption Awareness Month, we discuss in today’s episode, some of the typical daily adoption struggles we’ve faced as adoptees, and how we’ve overcome and answered specific questions. As well as our experiences and perspective on adoption. I hope that you can learn more about the adoption community and our experiences.

Never Belonging as Asian Americans!
In today’s episode, we will be talking about what it’s like being a Third-Culture Kid (TCK) and what that means. Third-Culture Kids are kids who grew up in a culture different from their parents’ and/or have moved around to different environments. This is a very special episode since we are featuring our first guest speaker, Theo! Theo is a dear friend of ours and moved to Hong Kong from China to teach English. He now works as a Head English Teacher for a Kindergarten in Hong Kong. He has lived in six different countries and moved 47 times! Theo also recently launched his own podcast, "This is We" which sheds light on the TCK community and educates the world on how TCKs are seeking to change the world and their thoughts on various social and political events.

The Up's and Down's of being in a LDR
Hi Everyone! In today's episode, we'll be discussing the challenges, obstacles, and all the nitty-gritty stuff that comes with being in a long-distance relationship (LDR). Carol and Allie have both experienced a long distance relationship and just recently closed the distance. Carol moved back home to Hawaii and Allie moved to San Diego to live with her significant other. We share tips, recommendations, and strategies that we've personally used to help us get through the distance. So whether you've been in a long-distance, we hope you'll relate and our advice can help! If you're thinking of going into one and have some questions, hopefully we're able to clear some stuff out! You can always message us and/or leave a voice message and we'll answer it on the next episode!

Reflection: Black Lives Matter
In this episode we wanted to deliberately carve out space to think about racial justice, particularly for Black people. Although major media outlets are not covering the protests anymore, the fight for justice is still happening and it's up to us to be a part of it.
How can we stand in support and solidarity with the Black community?
How can we ensure that this is not just a moment but a sustainable movement?
