Right now, in a galaxy near you, there is a full-contact striking league that has rapidly grown a fan following of millions and may become the world’s most popular combat sports organization. How are they doing this? By forming a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) and transitioning governance to its fans and athletes.
Since 2018, Karate Combat has been the only league to blend live-action sports with immersive CGI environments powered by the Epic Games Unreal gaming engine. World champions and Olympic medalists from around the world have competed in eight different weight divisions in pursuit of Karate Combat World Championship belts. Now, Karate Combat will be the first sports league to re-structure as a DAO.
Never heard of a DAO? Well that’s ok! I was in similar shoes not too long ago, but i’ve got my bearings a bit now and I want to help explain why this is no joke for fans of not only Karate Combat as a league, but possibly every sport in the world. To do so, we’re launching this Podcast, Across the Karate-verse.
We’ll check in with the founders and top-dawgs at Karate Combat to look behind the scenes on what they’ve built and where they see things going.
You, the fans and the audience, will decide the storyline and change the Karate-Verse. This podcast – Across the Karate-verse will be the documentary guide through the making of sports history.

We made it through a full season. This finale is almost as action packed as the career of our esteemed guest, Mr. Bas Rutten. Bas is a combat sports legend who is the official ambassador of Karate Combat as well as one of the broadcast commentators. An additional attribute of Bas is that he is maybe one of the most pleasant individuals you will ever talk to.
This was a blast to record and a perfect end to our inaugural podcast season.

S1E1 - OnlyLarping (Welcome to the Karate-Verse!)
Karate Combat is leaning heavy into web3 and turning their entire league into a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO).
In this inaugural season of Across the Karate-verse your host, Uncle Jon, will take you on a journey answering any and all questions you may have around what this ground breaking organizational shift means for not only Karate Combat, but for sports all over the world. KC embracing a DAO governance model truly puts fans on the same playing field as owners and gives YOU the power to make decisions around your favorite Combat Sports League
Episode 1 features an in-depth interview with the league's web3 contributor who goes by the pseudonym "OnlyLarping"
He explains to us what web3 is, how it effects the league, and the introduction of Up Only Gaming. Up Only Gaming is free to play and is fueled by KC's native crypto-tokens, which are slated to be given away for FREE to it's members as a way for them to vote for their favorite fighters in a "pick-em" style game.
