The Deleuzian Horizon: Political Economy and Materialist Dialectics
This Deep Dive examines a collection of academic essays that evaluate the enduring relevance of Gilles Deleuze in contemporary thought, specifically addressing his impact on political economy and materialistic dialectics. While some critics dismiss his work as an outdated ideology of late capitalism or a form of mystical vitalism, these authors argue for a revolutionary interpretation of his philosophical legacy. The text examines how Deleuze's theories provide a unique framework for left-wing politics and speculative philosophy, moving beyond traditional Marxist or Hegelian constraints. Scholars featured in the issue explore diverse topics ranging from anthropological critiques of capitalism to the role of Deleuzian thought in modern sound studies. Ultimately, the source serves to reclaim Deleuze's concepts from common misconceptions, positioning his philosophy as a vital tool for understanding modern power structures and truth.

Deleuze and the Third World: The Minority of Representation
In this Deep Dive, we look into a scholarly essay by Alex Taek-Gwang Lee, where they explore how philosophers Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari redefined the Third World as a revolutionary linguistic and virtual zone rather than just a physical location. By linking this concept to minor literature, the author argues that language can be liberated from standard representation to produce new, radical political identities. The text examines how this anti-fascist framework addresses the "people who are missing," or those ignored by global capitalist systems and traditional leftist politics. Lee also utilizes the metaphor of desert islands to illustrate a break from colonialist thought and the birth of independent, creative subjectivity. Ultimately, the work suggests that viewing the Third World through this philosophical lens offers a way to challenge global micro-fascism and transform modern political struggle. Following the academic analysis, the source includes submission guidelines for the Edinburgh University Press Journals Blog, detailing how researchers can share their findings with a broader audience.

Metaphysical Glossary: Deleuze, Whitehead, and Bergson
This Deep Dives examines a text that provides a metaphysical glossary and index that compare the philosophical frameworks of Gilles Deleuze, Alfred North Whitehead, and Henri Bergson. It focuses on their shared rejection of static, substance-based reality in favor of becoming, process, and event-based ontologies. Key concepts such as actuality and virtuality are examined to show how these thinkers define the relationship between real potential and physical existence. The glossary also clarifies specialized terminology, like Whitehead’s actual entities and Bergson’s duration, to highlight where their theories overlap or diverge. Ultimately, the source serves as a guide for navigating the complex creative and speculative empiricism that defines this specific lineage of modern thought.
