Who wrote the Book of Acts?
What is the Book of Acts about?
How did a small group of disciples in Jerusalem become a movement that turned the world upside down? In Acts Explained, Dr. Toby Holt provides a rigorous, verse-by-verse exposition of the Book of Acts, tracing the sovereign expansion of Christ’s Kingdom and the vital work of the Holy Spirit.
As the Scripture records:
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (Acts 1:8, NKJV)
Drawing from the historical Reformed tradition—echoing the exegesis of John Calvin R.C. Sproul and others—this series examines the theological weight of Pentecost, the birth of the church, and the missionary journeys of the Apostles. This is not merely a history lesson; it is the account of the Risen Christ continuing His work on earth through His redeemed people.

Turn The World Upside Down
The Gospel is not toothless.
The Gospel is not weak or defenseless.
As Spurgeon said - it is like a 'lion.'
What do you do with a lion?
You set it loose.
And watch it turn the world upside down.
In today's text, we'll see an example of this from Acts 17.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What opposition did Paul and the apostles face?
B) What was the true (spiritual) source of that opposition?
C) What effect does the good news have upon a fallen world?

The One Name That Saves
No. Other. Name.
As he felt the Sanhedrin's angry eyes, Peter stood firm.
There's no other name by which we must be saved, he told them.
Not two. Not ten. Just one - Jesus Christ.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What are the implications of this to other religions?
B) What were the implications to Peter's audience?
C) What sort of opposition does such a claim create?

The Whole Counsel Of God
How much of God's Word should we preach?
In the Apostle Paul's view, ALL OF IT.
And that's just what he told the Ephesian elders.
In Acts 10, Paul told them to preach the whole counsel of God.
Not some. Not part. All.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) Why did Paul invite the Ephesian elders to meet?
B) Why did Paul tell the elders they'd never see him again?
C) What other points did Paul emphasize at this time?
