Boomerang (1992): Season Finale Spectacular
The Club's most-demanded movie is here, and to celebrate we've packed an XL episode with our thoughts on 1992's Boomerang. Credit with inspiring many people of color to consider a career in advertising, this star-studded rom-com classic tells the story of womanizing marketing exec who suddenly has all his attitudes come back to hurt him. It's like a...like something that...flies back at you after you hurl it into the world? Hmm, not sure what word to use. This marks the Season 1 finale of Ad Cinema Club, and we're so thankful for all our listeners, Patrons and supporters who've made this show possible. Hosts Shannon Miller, Ashley Rutstein and David Griner especially want to thank the team at Boutwell Studios, who've been invaluable and tireless in their help with everything from editing to writing our theme song. Check them out at BoutwellStudios.com! And huge thanks to each Patron who supported us financially each month. Your contributions helped us create this show without the hosts losing money on hosting and production fees, so you're the heroes who made Ad Cinema Club come to life. Cheers and happy viewing!

Art and Copy (2009)
If there's one documentary that's considered a seminal summary of the modern ad world, it's this one. Art & Copy, a 2009 collection of interviews with ad leaders of the 1960s-present, is the subject of this week's Ad Cinema Club viewing. It's a stellar time capsule of insights from leaders like Dan Wieden, Mary Wells Lawrence and Cliff Freeman, but it's also got its share of problematic folks whose legacies are worth debating. Big thanks to our Patreon supports for supporting the show! Agency (2023)
A chance at promotion to Chief Creative Officer sets off a Game of Thrones-esque battle of backstabbery and maneuvering in this hit Korean drama about life in a dominant ad agency. We watched the first three episodes of Agency on Netflix, meaning there's still plenty of story beats that will remain unspoiled after you listen to this episode. Big thanks to our Patreon supports for selecting Agency as this week's watch! Crazy People (1990)

They Live (1988)
What if the ads all around you were trying to tell you how to live your life?! Oh wait, they do, but what if ALIENS were the ones behind it all? This week, Ad Cinema Club is watching John Carpenter's "They Live", a sci-fi/action cult classic starring wrestler "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. What does this near-future dystopian commentary on consumerism have to say about advertising? "Nothing good," as our co-host Ashley Rutstein puts it.
