The Mistletoe Inn
We’re rounding out the month of December with another holiday book and movie.
Did you know that there is a king of Christmas? I certainly didn’t, but this week we read the king of Christmas Richard Paul Evans’ The Mistletoe Inn, as well as the Hallmark movie of the same name. I hesitate to say adaptation, and as you listen you’ll find out why we feel that way.

The Christmas Train, part two
We’re just in that giving spirit, coming back with a new episode, one week after last week!
Who would have thought that we would find David Baldacci’s masterpiece The Christmas Train worthy of two episodes? Certainly not me. But here we are.
Tom is halfway through his train journey from D.C. to L.A., and twists and turns are just around the corner.

The Christmas Train, part one
Ho Ho Ho!
It’s that time of year, and we are in the Christmas mood with this week’s book, The Christmas Train by David Baldacci. Come learn of Tom, who lets you know he used to be a war correspondent every chance he gets!
Also this is a Hallmark movie, so now you know just exactly what you are in for.
We also couldn’t contain this book and film to just one episode, so it’s a two parter, come back NEXT WEEK for the second half and see if Tom can find love, and solve the mystery.

Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase
If you’re listening on the day of release happy American Thanksgiving!
I had all kinds of facts written down the first time I wrote this, but that was like 4 months ago, and since I had to reupload the episode I have forgotten them.
I do recall that this is the only actual adaptation of an actual Nancy Drew book, and they’ve actually done it twice. Every other movie or show about Nancy Drew was original to that format, kinda crazy considering how many books there are.
As always thank you for listening, catch up back in two weeks when we begin our Christmas episodes!

Coraline
Keeping with the spooky season we went ahead and read Neil Gaiman’s Coraline.
We have a long talk about how we seem to be the only two people not totally in love with everything Coraline, come hear some of our reasons why.

Lemony Snicket's The Bad Beginning
Finally we get a break and read something fantastic, it’s Lemony Snicket (or Daniel Handler’s) first entry in a Series of Unfortunate Events, The Bad Beginning.
Listen to us gush, a word here which means write with effusiveness or exaggerated enthusiasm, over our love for the book and tv series. (Did you get the joke?)

The Boxcar Children
We read and watch Gertrude Chandler Warner’s debut novel, The Boxcar Children. You may think you know a thing or two about this series, there are over 150 titles in all. BUT we bet you know nothing about the first story and how terrible it really was.
Tessa and Elliot talk about how this book really isn’t a book at all, and how there was no way even way back in 1924 that readers weren’t grossed out by the grandpa.

Goosebumps' The Haunted Mask
In this first episode we take a look at R. L. Stine's eleventh book in the Goosebumps series, but the first episode of the TV show, The Haunted Mask.
Listen as Tessa and Elliot talk about what makes the book scary, but the show funny, and see which one they decide to keep and which one they choose to never speak of again.
