Short Story Number One: ESA to Universal Credit.
This is Short Story No1. Each month we will release a story that is to do with our members and their lives. At Advocacy for All, our mission is to Make Sure That People Who Need Support Are Heard.
Todays story is from member and employee Sarah, and her experience of switching from ESA to Universal Credit. Sarah’s story is one of many we hear a lot. Members tell us of the benefits system being complex, confusing and inaccessible to those with additional needs. Self-advocacy helps by empowering individuals with additional needs to speak up for themselves, understand their rights, and challenge unfair or inaccessible systems .
A huge thank you to Sarah for sharing her story and giving us some advice.
Advocacy for All have self advocacy groups in Bexley, Bromley and Sutton. To find out more, please go to www.advocacyforall.org.uk. and click the Self advocacy groups button. We believe people with learning disabilities can use their collective voice to highlight barriers in life and make the change that is needed so that everyone lives in dignity.
