[…] What about the rumen functions? So can you please just give us a brief about this? So rumen is a very active fermentation. vessel it's before the true stomach of the animal. So all the food that ruminants eat first of all goes into the ribbon. There it's fermented by a population of bacteria, protozoa, fungi and also archaea. That fermentation produces volatile fatty acids which are the main energy source of the animal and also microbial protein that is the main protein source for them. So the fermentation is vital for the animal to be able to survive and thrive on a diet of forage. Unfortunately, as part of that fermentation, methane is produced. […]
