About Afterlife - Reasonable and Possibly True Short Stories
Please know that I am not a psychic medium, nor a spiritual guide. I am actually quite grounded in science. These short stories are just stories. Their first goal is to entertain you. Their second goal is to give you something to think about, as a new aspect of the afterlife will be presented with each episode. This podcast will include stories about Death, Angels, the Judgement, Heaven, the Resurrection and other such topics. Suggestions are encouraged.
We are often told that we are a combination of mind, body, and spirit. The three make up one person for an entire lifetime. Then, at death, your body and brain die. However, your memories and personality extract themselves from your physical brain as it dies – and combine with your spirit to form a new spiritual body. What would such a separation look like at the moment of death?

Revelation Through Dreams - An Interview with Joseph
When is a dream actually revelation and when is it just a dream? Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus Christ, might be considered an expert in this area, as he received four revelatory dreams within a few years. In heaven, wouldn't it be interesting to interview Joseph about those dreams... ?

The Law of Consequence
“Mr. Bartlett, I think I need to explain to you “The Law of Consequence”. Now, there are some aspects of life that happen to people… randomly. Today, many people are born in third-world nations and have much fewer opportunities than you did, being born in Connecticut. Again, it’s no one’s fault as to where or when they are born.
“However, outside of those initial disadvantages at birth, most difficulties in our lives are brought upon us by our own behaviors. We don’t want to accept responsibility for them… so we call them “accidents”.

Michael the Archangel
Besides Gabriel, the most well-known angel in heaven must be Michael, the archangel. Michael commanded God’s angels in the war in heaven, leading his forces to evict Satan and his followers (Revelations 12:7). I believe that he still leads that angel corps. He’s an interesting person and I have depicted him as best I can. See if you agree.

Heavenly Quiz
We rarely talk about what comes after passing through the pearly gates. Righteousness doesn’t qualify you for a particular job. To be given a responsibility and power to fulfill important assignments, you will need… knowledge, wisdom, empathy, and understanding. I have known faithful church members for whom I would gladly throw open the gates of heaven to receive. But… to then give them authority, or any responsibility at all… I’m sorry, but no. Though active in the church, these members simply didn't make responsible decisions in their lives. Such spirits will need years of instruction and experience to be trusted with any responsibilities. Here’s a story to illustrate the point. I give you “Heavenly Quiz”.

Where Do Ghosts Come From?
You know, there are many… difficult, insulting, and ill-informed people on earth. We tend to think that everyone will lose their bad attitudes when they die - but I see no evidence for this conclusion. Personality enhancements don’t come with death. You don’t lose yourself. With time in heaven and a better understanding of eternity, most people, I think, will change. Yet some people will stubbornly hold onto their past lives. I’ve wondered how such people begin their afterlives. How will rebellious spirits react when they are asked to move on to the next life in heaven? Here’s a possibility. Lazarus
When talking about death, one should remember the story of Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha. During the Savior’s ministry, His good friend Lazarus died. Jesus arrived after Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. He called him forth from death. So, what did Lazarus’s spirit witness during those four days? His neighbors would have been just as curious as we are today and would have probably demanded to hear the story. I give you “Lazarus”.

Saint Peter's Gate
With so many spirits and resurrected beings in heaven, there are bound to be bureaucratic delays. After you die, I’m guessing it will take at least several months until your final judgement. So, there must be a "pre-judgement" to decide on which side of St. Peter’s Gate you can reside until your final judgement trial. However, heavenly laws are probably not like earthly laws...

A Good Guy
The Final Judgement has always fascinated me. For example, how bad, or good, do you have to be to go to the telestial kingdom? Will evidence be presented, or witnesses called, in deciding our fate? Perceptions of Heaven vary wildly, but I think our final place will fit who we are. I present to you one possible outcome to the Judgement entitled “A Good Guy”.

Mother's Day
Today is Mother’s Day, so it seems appropriate to post about mothers in heaven. Mothers are a strange, contradictory group. On one hand, mothers try to teach their children to “play by the rules” and obey the law. On the other hand, if a mom’s ‘mama-bear’ protective instinct is triggered, she’ll often throw away the rule book. Since this story is about women, my wife Cheri has agreed to read it to you. Satan's Social Media
In a podcast about the Afterlife, I must include a few stories about Satan. There are many images of Lucifer out there, but I don’t think he has a tail or horns. To lead a rebellion as he did, Satan must be a powerful and somewhat intimidating man. He is a spirit, but has certain powers granted unto him. Many stories can be written about Lucifer. Here’s my first attempt.
(Also, since the lead character in this story is a woman, asked my wife Cheri to read this episode.

Foreverly
My podcast topic rather demands that I tell this story. Disasters, injustices, and sorrows must occur on earth – and the death of a child is certainly the most heart-breaking of such tragedies. However, I believe many such terrible earthly events shall be made right again in heaven – as best as possible at least. Yet, we must be patient. Hopefully, this story will provide some encouragement.

Gabriel
We only know the names of a few angels, whom the Lord chose for His most important tasks. One of these is Gabriel, who appeared to Zacharias, father of John the Baptist and Mary, mother of Jesus. It seems reasonable that Gabriel would be asked to address student angels, providing them with motivation and his wisdom. I wondered about what Gabriel would teach - and this story came to be.

First Resurrection Day
I wanted to tell a story about the Resurrection. Clearly, the Savior was resurrected on that first Easter day – but so were other people. We read about them in Matthew 27. “And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”
I wondered about their experiences of these saints, and a story arose.

Todd, Angel of Death
Death is such a misunderstood event. However, it occurs to me that the spirit of a recently deceased person must be saddened by their death, confused by the spirit world, and lost. It makes sense that angels are sent to guide spirits out of the physical world and into the afterlife. They might even be called “angels of death”. Here's a story about that.

Heaven is a Neighborhood
People like to have homes in which to live, sleep, and keep their stuff. Humans are also very social; we enjoy interacting with other people. So, I think there will be neighborhoods in heaven. In whichever kingdom you earn, you’ll need a place to stay.

I believe that angelic visits are probably more common than we think. Many people need heavenly encouragement. However, Earth is a place where we develop faith, so these visits must be kept secret. In "Message from Heaven", I suggest one way it might be done. Enjoy.
