[…] So we did a very large study. Dr. Barbara Sahakian is a professor of clinical neuropsychology at the University of Cambridge. We did an analysis of the UK Biobank data. So it's nearly half a million people, so it's a very large sample. And we measured social isolation and loneliness. We asked how often people were living alone, whether they were seeing other people, and whether they were integrated in any social groups or going out to any social activities. And what we found is that those people who were socially isolated had a 26% increased risk of dementia. So it really, being socially isolated, really increased your chances of getting dementia. […]
