We are Tania and Gaetano, two expats who moved our families to Spain for new adventures. We both moved here from the US, Tania (originally from the UK) in 2020, with her husband and daughter from Northern Virginia, and Gaetano in 2023 with his two daughters from Los Angeles.
We all met in Valencia and got along incredibly well, but while we cracked each other up discussing our fun times adjusting to Spain, there were quite a few eye-rolls from our girls (tweens and teenagers anyone!). In an effort to give our daughters a little break we thought what the heck, let’s share our experiences with unsuspecting strangers instead. This podcast came to life and we hope you enjoy the pitfalls and joys of our experiences - we all have!
Perspectivas: Interviewing Andrew Anderson, from VoteFromAbroad.org
Your vote is your voice, even when you’re living thousands of miles away. In this episode of Ah Spain Podcast: Perspectivas, Andrew Anderson from VoteFromAbroad.org joins us to clarify the often-confusing process of voting in U.S. elections from abroad. We walk through how to register correctly, meeting the state deadlines, and how to confirm your ballot was actually received and counted. Andrew explains why American expats in Spain have to renew their registration every year and the process is a lot easier than you think! For those looking to stay active beyond the 2026 midterm elections, we also highlight how to find volunteer opportunities within the U.S. expat community. It is a straightforward guide to making sure your ballot makes the trip from Spain back to your home precinct.

Poco A Poco: Sites Of Segovia
Looking for the ultimate Spanish day trip that’s less than an hour from Madrid? In this episode of Ah Spain! Poco A Poco, we’re heading to the cobblestone streets of Segovia, a UNESCO World Heritage gem that feels like stepping onto a movie set—and for good reason! We explore the massive Roman Aqueduct that stands perfectly balanced without a drop of mortar, and visit the Alcázar, the ship-shaped fortress that famously inspired Walt Disney’s Snow White castle. Between the "Lady of Cathedrals" and the hidden viewpoints of the Pradera de San Marcos, we’ll help you navigate the city’s royal history and breathtaking Gothic architecture. Of course, no trip to Castile is complete without a feast, so we’re talking about the theatrical tradition of cutting Cochinillo (roast suckling pig) with a plate and the sugary bliss of a Ponche Segoviano. Whether you’re hop-scotching over from the capital by high-speed train or planning a slow weekend wandering through Mudéjar ceilings, this episode is your guide to the best of Segovia.

Gearing Up For Fallas & Other Topics
In this episode of Ah Spain Podcast, we’re gearing up for Las Fallas in Valencia—the fireworks, the falleras, the mascletà madness—and all the wonderfully weird things that come with it. From 800 towering statues taking over the streets and the one lucky ninot indultat that escapes the flames, to 60-pound silk dresses and firecracker shows you feel in your chest, we chat about the wild traditions behind Spain’s most explosive festival. We also wax poetic about daily life in Valencia: the mystery bread on doorsteps, the joy of grocery delivery, and why the city somehow doesn’t burn down?! Then there are the bonkers school holiday schedules (a week off for Fallas… then two more for Easter?!). Plus, how to survive Fallas with pets, why our kids get ridiculously cool school trips, and our annual dream of escaping Valencia during the chaos (spoiler: not this year). Grab a seat and escape to Spain with us.
