What If You Could Edit Audio Like MIDI?
Dr. Bill Evans returns to Real Music to demonstrate Prism, a performance-level music technology that can transform recorded audio into something musicians can edit with the flexibility of MIDI while preserving the identity, feel, and intent of the original performer. Bill shows how Prism can isolate individual notes, reconstruct missing sounds, alter timing, change instruments and microphones, control ambience, and reshape a recorded performance without replacing the musician behind it. The goal is not to generate a generic imitation. It is to preserve what makes that specific musician sound like themselves. We also discuss whether easier creative tools can expand musical expression, why traditional audio production methods may be limiting, and how new technology could give musicians more control in the age of generative AI. As Bill puts it, AI itself is neither good nor bad. The question is how we use it. Prism is being developed as a tool that enhances human performance and gives musicians new ways to remain creative, expressive, and relevant. 🌐 More from Real Music: https://www.realmusic.ai

Steve Morse on AI Recreating His Lost Performance
In this episode, legendary guitarist Steve Morse reacts to AI recreating a missing portion of one of his live performances.
Joined by Dr. Bill Evans, the conversation explores how AI can restore and enhance real performances, and where it still falls short. While the technology can replicate style and sound, it cannot capture the context, feel, and interaction that happen between musicians in the moment.
This is not about AI replacing artists. It is about what happens when AI enters the performance itself, and what that means for music going forward.

From Cyphers to Studios: The New Sound of AI-Driven Creativity
AI is changing how music is created, shared, and explored, and the real story is how artists are using these tools in their own workflows. In this episode, Anita Baumgartner, Head of Marketing at Soundraw, breaks down how musicians at every level are using AI to create faster, experiment more freely, and overcome barriers that once slowed them down.
Anita talks about live cyphers, quick beat sessions in studios and parks, and the way AI lets artists sketch ideas in seconds. She also explains how creators are using stems, prompts, and simple adjustments to shape beats into something personal, which keeps the human voice and emotion at the center of the music.
We also look at bigger themes that matter to working musicians, including ethical training data, transparency, global adoption, community, and the rise of new creative opportunities that come from having more accessible tools.
If you want a clear and realistic view of how AI is actually being used by real musicians, this conversation gets right to the point.

But basically what we were doing was we were taking phrases and loops that were generated by music producers that worked with us. and then he's bringing out ways to kind of stitch them together in different kind of ways and so basically the idea was that you could using software you could go okay i need a house track that's 125 bpm and the key of a minor and it needs to be 90 seconds, and I need the drop to be at 60.
