AI NEWS | Episode 12 | Week of October 5–11, 2026
Artificial intelligence is becoming more powerful, more accessible, and capable of performing an increasingly wide range of tasks. But as its possibilities expand, one question is becoming more important: how far should we allow these technologies to go, and under what conditions? In this twelfth episode of AI NEWS, we explore a week in which the AI race is no longer just about model performance. With GPT-6, OpenAI is rethinking how people interact with ChatGPT. Mistral continues to pursue its European ambitions with a one-trillion-parameter model, while Anthropic is working to make certain Claude capabilities more affordable and accessible. However, this expansion of access also brings new challenges. From Sam Altman's statements on AI risks to the easing of certain Claude restrictions for cybersecurity professionals and initiatives designed to identify AI-generated content, companies are seeking a balance between innovation, safety, and trust. At the same time, artificial intelligence is finding its way into activities that once required specialized tools or experienced professionals. Creating a video game without coding, producing realistic images, automating certain office tasks, or designing advertising campaigns is gradually becoming more accessible. These developments open up new possibilities, but they also raise questions about the future of creative professions, from school photography to the film industry. This episode explores a major transformation: the future of AI will depend as much on what it can do as on its cost, accessibility, and the trust we can place in it. AI NEWS | Episode 11 | Week of September 28 to October 4, 2026
In this eleventh episode of AI NEWS, David Akpovi’s weekly podcast returns to its regular format following last week’s special edition. This week, three major issues converge: safety, financing, and autonomy. Donald Trump and six AI giants sign a voluntary safety agreement, only for the FTC to open an investigation into the risks posed by AI agents just 24 hours later. In Canada, 899 requests linked to AI-agent activity are detected targeting a government service. Meanwhile, NVIDIA wants to use its GPUs as collateral to help finance hundreds of billions of dollars in AI infrastructure, while AI-related debt among lower-rated borrowers reaches $88 billion. Also in this episode: OpenAI’s Dots and its connections to more than 4,000 apps, Gemini 4 Argon and its cybersecurity capabilities, Google’s battle with the European Union over search data, the Pentagon’s AutoWarCom, and Grok Bot’s marketplace of specialized AI agents. An episode exploring an industry that continues to accelerate as questions of control, responsibility, and financing become increasingly important.

AI NEWS | Episode 10 | Special Edition | Week of September 21–27, 2026
For its tenth episode, AI NEWS takes a different approach. After nine episodes and nine weeks of following the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, it’s time to step back and ask: what has really changed, and where are we heading? Alex and Maya revisit the major trends that have emerged throughout the first nine episodes: the evolution of AI models, the rise of autonomous agents, the shift from AI that answers to AI that acts, advances in robotics, science and medicine, creative AI, cybersecurity, regulation, and geopolitical competition. By connecting developments that unfolded week after week, this special edition looks at the bigger picture: how AI has changed, what is changing right now, and where these trends could take us next. For this tenth episode, David Akpovi also wants to hear from you. AI NEWS | Episode 9 | Week of September 14–20, 2026
In this ninth episode of AI NEWS, one question takes center stage: should we keep accelerating the development of artificial intelligence, or should we start slowing down? While Sam Altman and Dario Amodei are calling for slower development of the most advanced AI systems, Donald Trump and Mark Zuckerberg oppose the idea, while China is also refusing to slow down. The debate over AI safety is therefore taking on a geopolitical dimension, just as King Charles III brings together several industry leaders to discuss the risks and the safeguards that should be put in place. While this debate becomes increasingly global, AI continues to gain autonomy. Claude can now keep working even after you close your computer, Aletta can find a vein and perform a blood draw autonomously, while Figure is testing its robots in homes they have never seen before. From the digital world to the physical one, AI is no longer simply answering our questions: it is increasingly performing tasks on its own. Across safety, surveillance, new models, autonomous agents, and robots capable of acting in the real world, the real issue may no longer be simply what AI will be capable of doing tomorrow, but what responsibilities, limits, and place we want to give it as it becomes increasingly capable of acting on its own. AI NEWS | Episode 8 | Week of September 7–13, 2026
In this eighth episode of AI News, a former OpenAI and Anthropic researcher warns about the race toward superintelligence and the risks it could bring. The warning comes as AI systems become increasingly autonomous and China is already exploring the military use of humanoid robots. At the same time, the possibilities offered by AI are becoming increasingly tangible. ChatGPT can now turn a simple sketch into an image, while Suno expands AI-powered music creation with its new v6 model and DeepSeek continues to drive down the cost of using advanced models. The impact is also extending well beyond digital tools: in Kenya, AI translates teachers’ lessons into sign language in real time, while scientific and medical research is exploring new ways to use these technologies, from studying the human genome to drug discovery. This week therefore highlights two developments unfolding in parallel: systems capable of performing increasingly complex tasks, and growing questions about the limits we should place on them. AI NEWS | Episode 7 | Week of August 31–September 6, 2026
In this seventh episode of AI NEWS, discover a week marked by major developments in AI models, autonomous agents, robotics, cybersecurity, and regulation. This week’s announcements show AI being used across an increasingly wide range of areas. OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra illustrates this evolution, with the company presenting a model designed to perform a wide variety of computer-based tasks on behalf of users. Google is also pushing AI further into cybersecurity with Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber, while new systems from Meta and Anthropic continue to advance coding, reasoning, and agentic capabilities. This growing autonomy is also extending beyond software. Uber and Wayve have launched autonomous rides in London, Tesla is preparing Optimus for potential commercialization, and AI agents are beginning to collaborate as teams, assist consumers with shopping, and interact more directly with the tools and services we use every day. But as AI becomes increasingly capable of acting on our behalf, the question of control is becoming more important. New York is restricting access to generative AI for nearly 600,000 younger students while preparing high schoolers to use it responsibly, the European Union is imposing new obligations on ChatGPT, and some advanced AI capabilities are now being made available only under controlled access. Together, these developments show how AI systems are becoming increasingly capable of using tools, collaborating, and operating in both the digital and physical worlds, while governments, companies, and institutions work to determine where these technologies should be used, by whom, and under what conditions.
