Fresh off the bye week, the Aledo Coaches Show Podcast comes to you from the press box at the Bearcats' home stadium, where Aledo's two middle schools are squaring off in their annual showdown and giving fans a look at the future of Bearcat football.
The Bearcats (2-3, 1-1 in District 3-6A) return to action this Friday against the Bowie Volunteers in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. It's their first game since the 35-21 homecoming loss to Arlington Martin that ended Aledo's national-record 136-game district winning streak.
In the first segment, the Bearcats' head coach talks about how the middle school programs build the foundation for the varsity, why he wants his athletes playing multiple sports, and what the staff learned about the team during the bye week.
He looks back at the missed third-quarter chances against Martin, shares his message to the team after the streak ended, and updates injuries to two key starters. He also scouts Bowie, including its dual-threat quarterback, dangerous receiving duo, and a playmaking safety, and talks about facing a head coach he first met in the 2017 state semifinals.
In the second segment, three senior linebackers join the show. They discuss how the team regrouped after the Martin loss, the pressure of playing with the streak, and a bond that goes back to their Pee Wee days. They also break down each linebacker position and explain why they give the front four credit for a run defense that has held up against some of the state's top running backs. The injured member of the group explains how he got hurt and when he hopes to return.

Homecoming week is here as the Aledo Coaches Show looks back at a dominant 69-0 district-opening victory over Granbury and turns the focus to an undefeated Arlington Martin team coming to Tim Buchanan Stadium.
