Faith, Fatherhood & the Ironworker Life | Zeke Sanchez
From Indianapolis to college football, fatherhood, faith, and the ironworking trade, Zeke Sanchez’s story is about adapting when life changes and learning to trust God through uncertainty.Zeke grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, also known as Naptown, and experienced high school during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. He shares what it was like navigating changing classes in a school of nearly 5,000 students, dealing with disruption during COVID, and trying to find his direction as a young man.His athletic journey took an unexpected turn. After playing soccer in high school, Zeke was encouraged by a teacher to consider Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio. That recommendation eventually led to an opportunity to join the Defiance Yellow Jackets college football team. Moving from Indianapolis to a small Northwest Ohio town created culture shock, but it also introduced him to friends from across the country and taught him the value of true friendship, loyalty, and having people who know your struggles and stay through difficult seasons.Faith runs throughout Zeke’s story. He talks about growing up in church, the influence of his grandfather, and what it meant to see his grandfather consistently studying the Word of God. We discuss the Book of Daniel, trusting God, prayer, patience, and how biblical faith can shape a young man facing uncertainty.Zeke also shares his college experience studying business, including fraud cases that showed him real-world examples of what not to do in business. During this season, his life changed again when he learned he was going to become a father. He opens up about telling his family and church family about the baby and how, rather than condemning him, they encouraged him to go deeper in prayer, faith, responsibility, and his relationship with God.Fatherhood became part of Zeke’s transition into manhood and changed the way he viewed work, responsibility, and providing for his family. That journey eventually led him into blue-collar work as an ironworker. Zeke talks about finding a career he loves, working toward becoming a journeyman ironworker, construction careers, job-site camaraderie, and developing the thick skin that often comes with working around other tradesmen. We also discuss skilled trades and trade school for young adults, including earning while learning, reducing college debt, traveling for construction jobs, seeing new places, per diem opportunities, and the earning potential that can come with skilled trade careers. Zeke explains why young adults should consider finding work they genuinely enjoy instead of assuming a traditional college path or the same nine-to-five workplace is their only option.Through conversations about Indianapolis, Defiance College, college football, skilled trades, ironworking, fatherhood, Christianity, friendship, work ethic, and becoming a man, Zeke’s story comes back to one message: be patient and wait on the Lord.Even during dark or uncertain seasons, Zeke encourages listeners to trust God’s timing, believe He will provide, and take time to reflect on how far God has already brought them.Topics include: Zeke Sanchez, Indianapolis, Naptown, COVID-19, Defiance College, Defiance Yellow Jackets, college football, soccer, college life, business, fraud cases, fatherhood, Christian faith, prayer, Book of Daniel, trusting God, young men, manhood, blue-collar work, ironworkers, journeyman ironworker, skilled trades, trade school, construction careers, job-site camaraderie, per diem, work ethic, career advice, friendship, and family.Alex Martinez Daily Chop, available on all platforms. Why Are Men Suffering in Silence? | Masculinity, Marriage, Fatherhood & Faith
Why are so many men suffering in silence?September is Suicide Prevention Month, making this an important time to talk about men's mental health, suicide prevention, masculinity, marriage, fatherhood, communication, relationships, and the pressures men carry in silence. In this episode of the Alex Martinez Daily Chop, Alex Martinez sits down with Gabe Velez for a raw conversation about what happens when a man is expected to provide, protect, lead, support his wife, raise his children, work overtime to survive, and keep the house in order.Sometimes the man telling everyone, "I'm good," is carrying more than anyone realizes.MEN, PRESSURE & COMMUNICATIONMen can carry financial pressure, work stress, marriage, fatherhood, expectations, and responsibility while trying to stay strong for everyone around them. Sometimes one small situation becomes the moment when an entire day's frustration comes out.Alex and Gabe discuss how a lack of communication can affect men's emotional health, why unresolved frustration can boil over, and how communicating before reaching that point can prevent stress from becoming anger, resentment, or toxic behavior.TOXIC MASCULINITY & SELF-REFLECTIONWe explore toxic masculinity versus healthy masculinity and the reality that there are two sides to every story. Not every disagreement involving a man automatically represents toxic masculinity, but men must also be willing to examine their own behavior. We discuss self-reflection, accountability, emotional control, pride, communication, and recognizing unhealthy traits within ourselves.Sometimes healing begins by asking, "What am I contributing to the problem?"MARRIAGE, FORGIVENESS & LETTING GOCan you forgive without bringing yesterday's argument into today's disagreement? Can you communicate about what's bothering you before you've carried it long enough to explode?Alex and Gabe discuss putting pride aside, communicating honestly, genuinely letting things go, and preventing unresolved conflict from creating division in marriage and relationships. These lessons give both men and women something to reflect on in their relationships.FATHERHOOD, ORDER & IDENTITYWe discuss a father's responsibility to bring leadership, identity, boundaries, correction, and order into the home. The smaller the child, the smaller the problem. The bigger the child, the bigger the problem.Establishing identity, boundaries, and discipline early can prepare children for larger challenges later.KING DAVID, MASCULINITY & FAITHWhat can King David teach modern men about masculinity?David was a warrior and leader, but Scripture also shows his emotions, failures, consequences, repentance, courage, and dependence on God. We discuss biblical masculinity and why strength isn't pretending nothing affects you. Staying rooted in the Word of God matters for men navigating marriage, fatherhood, leadership, identity, and personal struggles.MEDIA, FEAR & DESENSITIZATIONThe conversation also covers media, social media, culture, and light political discussion, including the Clancy case. We examine how media can pull on fear, race, anger, division, and emotion to capture attention, and whether constantly scrolling past tragedy, violence, outrage, and controversy is causing us to become desensitized. This is two men sharing lessons from life, relationships, fatherhood, faith, forgiveness, and self-reflection in hopes that something said can help another man, woman, marriage, or family.During Suicide Prevention Month, remember that silence doesn't necessarily mean someone is okay.Sometimes strength means having the conversation. Real Men. Real Conversations. Real Hope.Alex Martinez Daily Chop, available on all platforms. This episode is sponsored by R&R Handyman Services .If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis in the U.S., call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Faith Through the Fight | Alex Hopson’s Kidney Transplant, Faith & Entrepreneur Journey #35
At just 23 years old, Alex Hopson has already faced battles that many people will never experience. At only 16, Alex was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease, beginning a journey filled with doctor appointments, uncertainty, difficult decisions, and challenges that would completely change his life. By the age of 19, Alex had undergone an organ transplant. For the past five years, regular blood tests, medical appointments, and managing his health have become part of everyday life. But this episode of the Alex Martinez Daily Chop Podcast isn't only about kidney disease or surviving a transplant. It's about faith, perseverance, family, mindset, entrepreneurship, and learning how to keep moving forward when life doesn't go according to plan. Alex opens up about some of the real thoughts and struggles he experienced following his diagnosis. We discuss the moments when he underestimated what a doctor's appointment might bring, the uncertainty surrounding his health, and what it was like knowing his parents were walking through the fear and pressure alongside him. We also dive into the role faith in God played throughout his journey. Alex shares how his parents' faith helped create the foundation for his own relationship with the Lord and how that faith became something he could lean on when circumstances became difficult. Today, he credits God with carrying him through some of the hardest seasons of his life. But the conversation doesn't stop with his health. While continuing to manage life after a kidney transplant, Alex stepped deeper into entrepreneurship and real estate, becoming involved with more than 100 rental properties at a young age. We talk about something almost everyone can relate to: What do you do when you're having a bad day, but you still have responsibilities? There are days when you don't feel like walking into the office with a smile. There are days when your circumstances, stress, fear, or thoughts can begin pulling your mind in the wrong direction. Alex and I discuss the importance of learning how to redirect our thoughts throughout the workday, regain focus, and keep moving forward instead of allowing one difficult moment to control the rest of the day. We talk about mindset, discipline, overcoming obstacles, and understanding that sometimes you have to intentionally change the direction of your thoughts before you can change the direction of your day. Alex also shares what his difficult days actually look like, how he works through them, and how his experiences with kidney disease, transplantation, faith, family, and business have shaped the young man and entrepreneur he is today. In this episode, we discuss:• Being diagnosed with a rare kidney disease at 16• Receiving an organ transplant at 19• Life after a kidney transplant• Years of blood tests and medical appointments• The mental and emotional struggles surrounding serious illness• Watching your parents walk through the battle with you• Building faith through difficult circumstances• Trusting God when you don't understand what is happening• Redirecting negative thoughts during difficult workdays• Developing mental resilience and discipline• Overcoming bad days without allowing them to control you• Entrepreneurship at a young age• Real estate investing and managing more than 100 rental properties• Facing obstacles in business and everyday life• Finding purpose through adversity• Faith, family, perseverance, and personal growthThis conversation is a reminder that faith doesn't mean we won't face the fight. Faith can become what teaches us how to walk through it. Whatever you're facing today, your circumstances don't have to control the direction of your thoughts, and your struggles don't have to determine the direction of your future.
