One Year Later: Let Me Reintroduce Myself

My apologies one day later! Had tech difficulties! What happens when you hit your 50s, life changes almost overnight, and you're left trying to figure out who you are now? Welcome to midlife. All About Nothing with J officially turned ONE—and somehow, I completely missed my own podcast anniversary. But considering this past year included grief, losing both of my in-laws nine days apart, my husband being laid off, moving across the country, raising three boys, navigating perimenopause, starting over at 53, and trying to rediscover myself in midlife… I think I deserve a pass. So this week, we're going back to the beginning. For all my new listeners, I'm reintroducing myself and sharing the very first episode of All About Nothing with J—exactly as it was when I recorded it. The woman who started this podcast was 51 and about to turn 52. Today, I'm 53. A lot can happen in a year. This episode is about midlife reinvention, grief, motherhood, marriage, starting over after 50, Gen X life, perimenopause, family, change, and finding yourself again when life doesn't go according to plan. And of course, we're laughing too—because if you're a Gen X woman trying to survive adulthood, motherhood, hormones, marriage, aging parents, teenagers, work, and whatever fresh nonsense life has scheduled for Tuesday… you've found your people. Whether you've been listening since Episode 1 or you're brand new to the podcast, grab your coffee and come hang out with me. I’m 52… and I’m Still Figuring Out Who I Am

You would think that by 52, I’d have this whole “who am I?” thing figured out. Yeah… apparently not. 😂 In my 20s, I swear I knew EXACTLY who I was. I was confident, I knew what I liked, I knew what I didn’t like, and nobody could tell me anything. Then life happened. I became a wife. A mother. I built a career. I raised kids. I took care of my family. I became the person everybody needed me to be. And somewhere along the way, I stopped asking a pretty important question: Who is J outside of all those titles? In this episode of All About Nothing with J., I’m talking about what it feels like to reach midlife and realize that while I can give you a VERY detailed list of everything I don’t want anymore 😂… I’m still figuring out what I do want. Who am I when I’m not being Mom, wife, employee, caretaker, problem-solver, scheduler, or the person making sure everybody has toilet paper upstairs? I don’t have the answer yet. And maybe that’s okay. Maybe not knowing who you are right now doesn’t mean you’re lost. Maybe it just means you’re changing. So if you’ve ever looked at the life you built and thought, “I love these people. I’m proud of this life. But… where am I in all of this?” — come sit with me. Because apparently we’re all still figuring out adulthood together. 😂❤️ 🎧 Listen, follow, and share All About Nothing with J. with somebody who might need this conversation too. ⭐ If you enjoy the show, please take a minute to follow, rate, and leave a review. I’m 52 and I’m Done Doing Things I Don’t Want to Do

At 52, I’ve officially reached the point where I’m done doing things I don’t want to do. And no, I’m not talking about paying bills, going to work, or all the other crap adulthood still requires from us. Unfortunately, I checked—we still have to do those things. I’m talking about saying yes when you really mean NO. Going places because you feel obligated. Over-explaining your decisions. Holding onto relationships just because there’s history. And worrying that choosing yourself somehow makes you selfish. In this episode of All About Nothing with J, we’re talking about what happens when you finally realize your time, energy, and peace matter too. Maybe getting older isn’t just about what we lose. Maybe it’s also about what we finally give ourselves permission to put down. So grab your coffee, get comfortable, and let’s talk about why “I don’t want to” might actually be reason enough. And then tell me: What’s ONE thing you’re officially done doing just because other people expect you to? 🌐 COME HANG OUT WITH ME Website: AllAboutNothingWithJ.com (http://AllAboutNothingWithJ.com) Instagram: @All_About_Nothing_WithJ If this episode made you laugh, think, or say “Girl, SAME,” share it with somebody who needs to hear it.
