All About Supporting Philanthropy is a podcast presented by the Association of Advancement Services Professionals where we discuss advancement services and why it is so important to Philanthropy.
What happens when a prospect researcher writes a mystery novel — and makes the main character one of us? In this special episode, we dive into Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts by Kate Racculia, a delightful thriller whose protagonist works in Prospect Research. Then we go straight to the source: Kate herself joins us to talk about her career in prospect research, what inspired the book, and what it was like to blend her professional world with fiction.
We also get into something weightier: the ethics of the data we hold. How much is too much to know about someone? What are the real consequences of poor decisions in our profession? It's a conversation that's equal parts fun and thought-provoking.

39 | Use Your Data Creatively
We collect a lot of data about our donors and constituents. And we put that data to good use in crafting our messages and appeals and our stewardship. We focus on this data so much that we have a hard time seeing past it. A hard time seeing the forest for the trees.
Today we have a conversation with a pair of advancement services technologists who took a step back and looked at the forest instead of the trees. They took a simple question, answerable by their data, and turned the answer into a tool to solve their curiosity and a solution for the world to use.
