About All Nations Presbyterian Church: Morning Sermon Series
All Nations Presbyterian Church in Perth is a Bible-believing church. We hold to the Bible being God’s word, and we value sermons that are faithful to the Bible while also being relevant and applied to those who listen. This podcast features the sermons preached in the afternoon service each week. The main preacher is Simon van Bruchem, with guest preachers at regular intervals.
On Sunday morning, we looked at Psalm 136 together. This grand psalm of praise reflects on God's history with his people over a long time period. In all of these diverse situations, it is true to say that God's steadfast love endures forever. God is motivated by his love for his people, and acts with more power than any other power anywhere. We see his love in his salvation of his people and in his right judgement of his enemies. This also applies to us, whatever situation we are currently in. God loves his people and his so powerful to do whatever needs to be done for our good and his glory. We need to reflect on this in hard times and good, remembering to praise God and not only complain about our current situation. A time of reflection on God's goodness to his people and to us personally in our prayers will help us to see God in a more accurate way.

James 5:13-20 - Prayer and the Christian Community
On Sunday morning, we worked through the final section of the letter of James. While this contained a range of concerns, what tied it all together was the Christian community. James calls Christians to pray together, whatever happens. We are to pray specifically for those who are seriously unwell. We are to recognise the seriousness of sin, confessing it to one another, praying for healing. We are to remember the power that is in prayer and use this great gift. We should be close enough to one another to care deeply if one is struggling or if they wander away. Jesus died to save a people, not just individuals. We are not strangers on a train. The local church is a great gift; we should use it well to build relationships and live out our faith with one another. What can you do to encourage someone in the church today? How can you make a difference to someone else in church? It doesn't need to be a big thing; let's make every effort to build one another up as we serve King Jesus.

James 5:1-12 - Wealth, Injustice and Waiting on God
On Sunday morning, we looked at the start of James 5 together. Rich landowners were getting richer, but their workers were not getting paid. James was harsh to the wealthy here: it makes no sense to build up wealth in the last days. Riches are to be used to serve God and others, not to build up comfort and luxury. On the other hand, those who suffered injustice faced other issues. They were tempted to grumble, to sin, and to fail to trust in God in their troubles. The reality is that God cares deeply about injustice. We see it in Jesus who suffered unjustly in our place, and the cost paid to deal with sin. The overall instruction here is to wait for God. Whether our situation is comfortable or unjust, we can trust that God is compassionate, he will deal with justice, and Jesus is coming back. Cast your concerns before God in prayer, knowing he hears you and cares for you.
