About Amaro Voice

Welcome to Amaro Voice, the podcast about European Roma and Sinti. The word amaro is derived from the Romani language and it means „our“. With this podcast we want to give the Romani people a voice and show the diversity of Roma and Sinti in Europe. The host of the Amaro Voice Podcast is Sejnur Memisi, a Journalist from Germany, and the Co-Host is Melissa Sejdi, a Activist from Germany. Both are part of the Roma Communities.

   From Invisibility to Inclusion - Interview with Dan Doghi

   In this episode of Amaro Voice, Sejnur Memisi speaks with Dan Doghi, former Chief of the Contact Point for Roma and Sinti Issues at the OSCE/ODIHR, about Roma inclusion, visibility, and the future of Roma rights in Europe. Dan Doghi explains why Roma are often described as an “invisible nation” and how this invisibility shapes everyday life — from access to education and jobs, to recognition in political and social spaces. He reflects on the most urgent human rights challenges for Roma and Sinti in 2025, while also highlighting positive steps and examples of progress across Europe. The conversation also focuses on Roma inclusion: what meaningful participation looks like, where governments and institutions are failing, and how Roma youth and grassroots initiatives are bringing hope and change.
