Outdoor Tomorrow Foundation Reconnects Kids with Nature

In the latest episode of the American Outdoor News Podcast, Keith Tidball of the Outdoor Tomorrow Foundation (OTF) discusses why outdoor recreation is essential for today's youth. He explains how schools can help children reconnect with nature through structured outdoor education. Furthermore, he shares why hunting, fishing, conservation, and outdoor recreation benefit both physical and mental health. Keith's journey began in academia, where he studied the healing power of nature for military veterans and trauma survivors. However, he eventually joined the Outdoor Tomorrow Foundation to create lasting change for future generations. Today, OTF partners with thousands of schools nationwide to introduce students to outdoor recreation during school hours. As a result, more children discover the lifelong benefits of spending time outside. One of the interview's most eye-opening moments focused on a troubling statistic. According to Tidball, the average child spends only three to seven minutes each day in unstructured outdoor play. Consequently, many young people are losing their connection with wildlife, conservation, and the natural world. He describes this growing disconnect as "nature amnesia," warning that society risks forgetting its outdoor heritage if children never experience it firsthand. Throughout the conversation, Tidball explains how Outdoor Tomorrow Foundation integrates outdoor recreation into physical education programs. Rather than replacing academics, the curriculum complements classroom learning while promoting healthy lifestyles. In addition, partnerships with organizations like Safari Club International continue expanding the program's reach. These efforts also support R3 initiatives by recruiting, retaining, and reactivating future hunters, anglers, and conservationists. Looking ahead, Tidball hopes Outdoor Tomorrow Foundation will reach a majority of school districts across the United States within the next several years. He encourages parents, educators, and outdoor organizations to work together in creating more opportunities for children outside. Ultimately, he believes early outdoor experiences build healthier families, stronger conservation ethics, and a brighter future for hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation. http://gootf.org https://AmericanOutdoorNews.com #OutdoorTomorrowFoundation #KeithTidball #outdoorrecreation #youthoutdooreducation, Learn more about your ad choices.
