   Ampocalypse | Heidi Shepherd on Nightbloom, Growth & Choosing Sides in the Apocalypse

   In this episode of Ampocalypse Damian FitzGerald is joined by Butcher Babies vocalist Heidi Shepherd to talk about the band’s new album Nightbloom, a deeply personal record rooted in survival, growth and turning some of life’s less pleasant experiences into something considerably louder. Heidi discusses writing Nightbloom as something of an autobiography, using songwriting and therapy to process emotions, and how every lyric on the record has a purpose. We also get into the trust behind her collaborations, the changing way we consume music, her relationship with physical media, and how the music industry has evolved for women since Butcher Babies first began. With Nightbloom marking Heidi’s first Butcher Babies album taking the vocals forward solo, she reflects on stepping into that role, the freedom it brought to the songwriting process and how the band have been able to explore a wider range of sounds while still knowing exactly when things need to get aggressive. There’s also time for plenty of guitar on *Black Clouds Over Georgia* and a look back at just how much Heidi — and Butcher Babies — have changed along the way. Then it’s time for the Ampocalypse. An all-powerful corporation has taken control of the world, deciding how people live, what choices they’re allowed to make and, naturally, finding time to tighten its grip on music along the way. Heidi has to choose Butcher Babies’ resistance anthem, decide whether the band would sell out and take the corporation’s deal, plan the festival of the rebellion and work out which members of Butcher Babies would be most useful inside the corporate machine.    Ampocalypse | Petrol Girls on Surviving 2000Trees with Preppers, Pits and the Cave Stage

   In this episode of Ampocalypse Damian FitzGerald is joined by Petrol Girls at 2000Trees Festival to find out how they would survive when festival life suddenly becomes permanent. With the outside world gone, Petrol Girls have to work out how a new community at 2000Trees would function. Who takes charge, which supplies become essential and which festival goers suddenly prove far more useful than anyone expected? From mosh pit warriors putting themselves on the front line to preppers becoming some of the most valuable people on site, everyone has a role to play. There is also the small matter of keeping morale alive.
