Tiny Good: The Man Making the World’s Biggest Spectacles Possible

This week on An Eventful Life, we sit down with one of the most respected and influential figures in the global events industry — Tiny Good, founder and owner of Showtech (https://www.showtechaustralia.com.au/). Tiny isn’t the face on stage, he’s the reason the spectacle is even possible. From Olympic and Commonwealth Games ceremonies, Rugby World Cups, AFL Grand Finals, global concert tours like P!NK, international circus productions, major TV broadcasts and hundreds of outdoor concerts — if something or someone is flying above an audience, chances are Tiny and his team are behind it. In this episode, Tiny takes us right back to the beginning — how he found his way into theatre, staging and rigging, the early days of learning on the job, and the moment he realised this wasn’t just a trade, but a business and a responsibility. We unpack the evolution of Showtech, the reputation that made it one of the most trusted names in rigging, staging and theatrical automation worldwide, and the moments that defined Tiny’s career. We also dive deep into safety, compliance, venue design, leadership and communication, and what it really takes to run teams where trust is literally life-or-death. This is a rare, honest and insightful conversation with a man who has quietly shaped the way major events are built — and kept safe — for decades. Through his journey, Tiny has given back in spades, training and mentoring generations, working with and advocating for everyone in the industry through Crew Care and governments to champion the industry he loves. In this episode, we cover: Tiny’s journey into rigging and live production Building Showtech from a small operation into a global leader Olympic & Commonwealth Games ceremonies — behind the scenes Working with international circus acts and high-risk performance Safety, compliance and global rigging standards Crew care, culture and mental health in events Venue compliance and best-practice design for events Leadership under pressure The future of rigging, automation and live production This is an essential listen for anyone who works in, or loves, live events. We hope you enjoy this episode of An Eventful Life with one of the true icons of events, Tiny Good.
