Mary's Song
How can we know that God will do what he said he would do? How can we know God hasn't forgotten us? Because Elizabeth and Mary tell us. In this text of Luke 1.39-56, Elizabeth pronounces a blessing and Mary sings a song about God's salvation which always brings a reversal of fortunes. What is going to happen to the rich and mighty? The Announcement to Mary
Who does God call "favored"? Listen in as we explore the Annunciation, contrasting Gabriel's visit to Mary with his earlier visit to Zechariah to show how God seeks us in unlikely ways. While the announcement to Zechariah and Mary are similar, the contrasts between the two are great. Mary was young, poor, female, and from a rural village. She was an unlikely person, showing a God who loves reversals to reveal his presence and promise.
